The Jerry Jones Arch Is Fascinating

He buys the team and instantly has success.

Wins 3 Super Bowls and is the owner of a dynasty.

Then he proceeds to spend the next 30 years tearing everything apart and destroying all of the goodwill he built up with the fanbase.

He could’ve went down as a legendary football team owner beloved by the largest fanbase in sports, but instead he seems hell bent on going out a hated and absolutely loathed villain.
Most important thing is to remember Jerry walking into football completely blind and having to allow Jimmy control of the front office until he fealt like he got his feet wet enough to be the man. Don't ever forget Jimmy won those 3 championships. It's easy to say maybe they don't get the 3rd one, and it's just as easy to say we walk off with 4 in a row if he had stayed.

Jerry Jones's arch?

As what?

Jimmy Johnson had complete control over football operation when he was there.

As an owner, his team won 3 Super Bowls, as you say.

As an owner is arch is similar to someone jumping off the Empire State Building.

As a GM, if a medical professional observed his arch on a chart, he would pronounce Jerry dead.

Did anyone truly believe those winning ways were going to last. With FA and players and coaches leaving, team picked apart. There were lean years coming down the road. It happens to all teams. But for some reason only Dallas fans feel think it only happens to them. Hence 30 years of whining.
Yeah, everyone goes through a 30+ year drought, most of which is self-inflicted.

jimmy getting all the credit broke his brain and he been trying to win a championship by himself his way since then just so he can get all the credit
He did with barry btw
‘We did it our way baby’
He was proven right with that win and that compounded him thinking he can do whatever he wants

He won a superbowl with barry Switzer proving that 500 coaches could win with the roster

It only made his ego bigger

No of course they weren't going to last..

But did anyone think we would go 3 decades without doing something.. anything?"
They had some very good teams since then. Just could not get far in the playoffs.

Yeah, everyone goes through a 30+ year drought, most of which is self-inflicted.
They had some good years and teams. Just can’t get that far in the playoffs. You can’t say that many fans were excited during those years.
.but hindsight is 20-20. And fans act like they knew the past 30 years were going to happen.

it is what being a fan is about. How each season unfolds. Rather you believe they can do it or not.
I understand the hindsight frustration and I am not happy how things are going. But I will be here all off season long, and see how it unfolds, or caves in.

I think it's the 30 years of losing that has us dismayed. Look at all the team's that have been built for success. Not sure how or why you're defending this organization or the recent 30 years of failure.

Ironically, his upcoming Netflix docuseries is called “The Gambler”. He might be the most conservative owner / GM in pro sports

Cuban with the Mavericks has one championship . They don’t fall from the sky . Rooney the Steelers family seem stuck they can’t get out of the WC round . The 49ers are in a SB ring drought . Buffalo and many other franchises are at zero.

Jerry got it stuck when he felt “ anybody could coach Dallas to success “…no not true Jerry

Not defending them. But take it as you will.
i am saying the 30 years is a hindsight reaction.

OP is the reason this board sucks - he can't even spell "arc"

Nothing to say of merit, Dak sucks, etc, etc. Lol
This organization is a joke from top to bottom, they deserve all the negativity coming their way. People are fed up and for a lot of them, this is the only place they have to vent and share their frustration with other fans.

If you're looking for a blind optimism echo chamber you could start your own forum, Homer Zone or something like that.

I could live with the past 30 years if I truly believed the future looked brighter. This fall will be my 63rd year as a fan and I'm afraid I've seen the best this current organization can muster.

Jones' business acumen, as great as it is means nothing to me. Only success on the field can bring satisfaction but Jones is a silly old man who thinks he knows everything about football.

I still come here trying to stay connected to the team, but it's getting harder and harder to believe they stand a chance while Jones runs the ship. He seems to be constantly looking for icebergs. I truly believe he'd rather sink the team himself than let anyone else win with it.

It’s fascinating, that at 82, his last HC hire might be Brian Schottenheimer of all people. At least go out with a bang. This hire will taint what is left of his legacy
Exactly..............before, you could make a case the head coaches were at least somewhat legit, even going as far back as Campo.

Campo.............was a really good DC before being HC
Parcells............yeah, it was to get the stadium approved, but Parcells is still one of the all time greats.
Wade...............One of the best DCs in the history of the NFL
Garrett............Was a really good OC, even got several head coach interviews early in his tenure
McCarthy........Won a SB as head coach of the Packers

Schotty..........Never been a HC, never has been a highly rated OC, has had stints with multiple teams with very little success, only reason still in the league is due to his father's name, ect...

This will be the most unqualified HC hire in the history of the Cowboys and proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jerry does not care about winning, forever tainting his legacy.

I honestly believe that the more Stephen is involved, the worse Jerry's legacy gets.

Obviously, they're both buffoons when it comes to building a football team, but Jerry at least had some nuts at one point to try for greatness
Jerry spent money in the early days, spent the money on the wrong players most of the time, but he spent the money nonetheless.

Stephen is just a cheap arse, he would rather go the moneyball route but he is not smart enough to pick out the diamonds in the rough for that strategy to work. So, you are left digging through the clearance bin at Walmart looking for starting caliber players and we have all seen the results of that.

In short, Jerry is stupid, but Stephen is both stupid and cheap at the same time...........................yes, things will get worse under Stephen once Jerry kicks the bucket, not better.

Wow another bash Jerry thread. We haven’t had one of these for 10 seconds now.
I guess we could talk about our upcoming NFC championship game................oh wait, we have not played in that game since dinosaurs roamed the DFW area, my bad.

So, who do you think will actually win the NFC title game, the Eagles with our former OC or the Commanders with our former DC along with 10 of our free agents Jerry didnt think we needed?

Or we could talk about how we made the right move not signing either Barkly or King Henry in the offseason, Barkley can never stay healthy and Henry is washed..............oh wait, never mind.

Maybe be can talk about how at least the Cowboys HC job is still viewed as a coveted position in the world of sports.........oh wait, Aikman said the job is crap and nobody respectable wants it.

I dont know Jazz, if you are looking for post about sunshine and lollipops and how great Jerry is, I dont think you are going to find that on this board chief for a hell of a long time.

Cowboys are 15 years behind every other team in the NFC in playoff success, but yeah, sure, it happens to everybody:rolleyes:

Man, the homers are really reduced to this now?

30 years without an Conference Title Game happens to everybody...............oh wait, it doesnt........all the other NFC teams have made the game since 2010.

So, no, it doesnt happen to everybody in the conference, just the sorry arse Cowboys.
