This is why our defense STILL scares the hell out of me. We're throwing out guys off the street and rookies in hopes of leading this unit.
Right now, it's got to be Church and BC. Got to be. They've been here for some time now; lead us!
Side note: Being a Tarheel fan, I fully anticipate a bounce back year from Bruce.
Carter doesn't appear to be anything close to a leader on this team.
I don't say this as a fact- I couldn't know for a fact, but there is zero evidence that he's even attempting to step up in that regard and maybe he feels like he needs to prove himself before attempting to throw weight, which I would understand.
Church has stepped up though. He is, if not THE leader, one of the guys the players will look to when the going gets tough.
We shall see who else steps up and, for me at least, that's one of the reasons to be excited. Hopefully more leaders (I hope Melton) show their colors and this D steps it up big-time.
Right now it's all hope though.
