The Leonard Davis bashing continues

Its true ..... Phillycard has never trolled or had a bad thing to say about the boys.

He is one of the very few classy opponents on this board.

How did we overpay. Davis got what all the other Olinemen got. So I guess everybody overpaid.. That was the market this year.....

Well at least he's not getting the Nate Clements, type of contract $80 million dollars just think if Dallas would've signed Davis, to that kinda deal it will be the end of mankind as we know it and JJ, would've been crucified to the cross just like Jesus Christ, by various fans, and media people alike.

The weird thing about this is that Leo, according to the media the biggest head scratcher signing in the infancy of FA 2007, their saying he shouldn't have been signed to that kind of contract with how he played the last couple of season with the Cards.

Nate Clements, gets a free pass with the most ridiculous contract ever given to a DB, and he's as unproven at corner as Davis, is at the O-line.

As I said once before we all have the facts but some of us are to stubborn to present them because it fits their agendas about certain players.

I, for one wasn't thrilled about Davis, either but once I heard they're considering playing him at RG, in which it does make perfect sense being he's 6'6" 366lbs he wouldn't get bullrushed that easy by not one DT, and from what I heard is a good run blocker so JJ, and MB3 should benefit alot with him next to the C.

Why is he such a questionable signing when there are lots of them like: Clements, Dockery, Steinbech, Welker, ect is beyond me.

But hey as Hos always say "EMBRACE THE HATE".

No offense, but Davis and Johnson don't even belong in the same sentence. Davis is a good linemen at Guard. He just never lived up to his #2 overall pick and never will. The guy is simply too big to play LT and doesn't have the work ethic to study enough to play the tackle position. The problem with Johnson is he simply doesn't appear to have the strength to take on the huge DT's in the league. He get mauled by large nose tackles. He also doesn't have the agility to play tackle. He's basically an OK center vs. 4-3 teams and a horrible center agains 3-4 teams.

I agree that Davis, would be very good at guard than at tackle and based on our schedule this coming year and he's our tackle then speed rushers like: Jason Taylor, Osi Umenyoria, Julius Peppers, Leonard Little, Aaron Kampman, and that just a fraction of what he will face if he's at tackle this coming year not to say he won't hold his own but I just don't see him doing well there so he should play guard.

You call that bashing? More like mild criticism or curiosity. There was plenty of "bashing" on this board when the Niners signed Clements. Enjoy your glass house.

I'll be the first to admit I haven't seen Davis play enough to form an educated opinion on how he plays. Come 10-1-07 we'll have a much better idea of his abilities.

I don't think he was questionable at all ringmaster. Big CAN play. It's just a matter of focus for him. Believe me I watched him for 6 years, and he was alternately dominant and pathetic at times. If he's at Guard, I believe he'll do very well. I'm pulling for the guy!

It doesn't matter how much he cost..

He fills an immediate need with questions surrounding Riveria's back and Columbo's UFA.

Was he overpaid? Sure.

Is he worth it? Time will tell.

I think the big pickle will be if Rivera is cleared to play and Columbo is resigned.

If Rivera retires or is cut and Columbo goes to Jets/Broncos, then I hope a Arron Sears, Ben Grubbs or Justin Blaylock is there when we pick or after we trade down.

Then again ... Ill take Anthony Spencer anyday!

i dont know much about davis other than what i've read. i do know about dockery- he had a good year last year. up til then, he was basically invisible- as in, not very consistent. funny- he was the skins 4th best O lineman at best behind samuels, jansen and thomas. heck, rabach may be better than him.

i would expect davis to be a good guard- potentially very good. but the $ for O linemen is thru the roof.

It's a fact that you guys overpaid. But if he fills a need hey, far be it for me to criticize. It's funny that a lot of you guys seem to be touting Big as a savior, yet laughing at us signing Johnson. I can tell you there is a lot of roasting in return of you guys for breaking the bank for LD.

yep, Davis' contract doesn't even take up a quarter of the cap space we had to work w/ entering free agency

they got #6- and as of this moment, it looks like they may trade it to denver for bly and their first rounder (and one or 2 more picks). that could be good for both teams. the skins could use some more draft pickcs between the first and fifth rounds.
