The only reason these three QBs are being discussed in the top of the first is because they are the best of am average crop.
Winston and Mariota puts Goff and Wentz in the middle or lower part of the first if they are in this draft.

I actually dread this draft. To see that idiot pass on a franchise QB while in position for one and then most of this board salute him for it will just disgust me.

Tell me who the franchise QB is and Ill jump aboard the bandwagon.

St Louis, looking to make a splash in their new city want Wentz or Goff in the worst way.

So they trade us #15, #44 (from Philly) and #46 for #4 and our 3rd rounder.

That gives us #15, #35, #44 and #46................

1st (15) - Noah Spence (Hardy is not resigned), DE
2nd (35) - Kendell Fuller, CB
2nd (44) - Jayron Kearse, SS
2nd (46) - Braxton Miller, WR
4th Rd - CJ Prosise, TB
5th Rd - Darius Latham, DT
6th Rd - Graham Glasgow, C/OG
7th Rd - Kyle Carter, TE

I didn't worry about comp picks.

Big free agent signings would be Miller at TB, Danny Trevathan at MLB and a real 1 tech like Ian Williams or Mebane. Possibly a vet safety to pair with Jones as Kearse gets his feet wet (although I guess you could put Wilcox there for now).

I think that is a terrible value on the trade. Our 4 is worth the 15, 44, 79 and 111 or 15, 44, 46.

We don't have a 5th or 7th.

Middle part of the first is close enough.

Overpay now or way overpay later(multiple picks to move back up).

Not this year. We need immediate impact players to compete with Romo. Ill draft my QB the year after Romo announces his retirement. If I overpay I will overpay for an Andrew Luck or Jamis Winston.

Then why aren't there QBs at the top of every draft?

Explain, for instance, the 2013 draft. You seem smart. It should be easy.

It's that simple, folks. We'll address that when we absolutely have to because we have nothing. And a QB will appear from the clouds for us at that time. And our crack front office will get that right guy when it's timely and on our schedule.

Good stuff.

I thought my original post was self evident. There are QBs in every draft. Where they rank is a different matter.

Yeah, it was self evident. You said the only reason these QBs are being talked about at the top of draft is because they're the best of an average crop. So how come that didn't happen in 2013? Find the best of that crop. Talk about them at the top of the draft. Didn't happen.

So not only are we passing on a potential franchise QB, but have to send our 3rd Rd pick for the privilege to do it? This should be a "Maybe the Cowboys are dumb" mock.

You are probably right about the value. I was just trying to make an equal trade since often times people propose such lopsided trades in the Cowboys favor. A more fair trade if you use the value chart would have been our 1st and 4th, the Rams 1st and two 2nd round picks. Works out to be a slight nod to us.

Cowboys do not own a 5th or a 7th. I love your idea, but I would make the Rams take one of our multiple 4th rounders (instead of the 3rd) and make them like it . :D That said, don't believe Dallas would have to give up a pick for Rams to move up that high. Cowboys may even get another pick out of the deal (7th rounder). Even then, would even trade down into the low 20's for another 2nd and/or 3rd. I like your picks for most part, but here are mine:

1st (15) - DE Noah Spence
2nd (34) - OLB Jaylon Smith (or RB Derrick Henry if Smith does not fall)
2nd (44) - SS Su'a Cravens
2nd (46) - CB William Jackson III
3rd Rd - 3T/1T Javron Hargrave
4th Rd - OLB/DE Dadi Nicolas
4th Rd (comp) - C/OG Nick Martin
6th Rd - QB Vernon Adams
6th Rd (comp) - RB/WR/KR Byron Marshall
6th Rd (comp) - S/LB/ST Jatavius Brown
6th Rd (comp) - 1T OJ Mau

I believe Cowboys could still trade down a bit from #15 and pick up a WR and/or RB as well. Just draft playmakers at all levels.

In FA, I would advocate the signing of FS Eric Weddle, DT Malik Jackson/DE Vernon Olivier (or Hardy if cheaper), QB Robert Griffin III, FB Will Tukuafu, RB Chris Ivory/RB Bryce Brown and THEN trading for Johnny Manziel. Yes, trade for that flaming hot mess.

Think of Manziel as an opportunity. Cleveland's hands are on fire they want to drop this guy so badly, but they receive nothing in return for an outright cut of a first rounder going into year 3. Offer the Browns WR Terrance Williams, CB Brandon Carr, OT Doug Free and a 2017 3rd (that can become a 2nd based on Manziel's starts). In return Dallas receives QB Johnny Manziel, WR Josh Gordon (remains to be seen if he ever plays again) and OT Joe THOMAS. Browns almost traded him to Broncos last season, he is definitely available. 3 starters and a possible 2nd rounder for basically Joe Thomas.
Cowboys would NFI Manziel (enter rehab for all of 2017) or just cut him outright, whatever. Imagine adding Joe Thomas to this OL. :flagwave:

I don't make that trade at all if Goff or Wentz are there. If they are gone, I still want to win big on the trade.
We already have 9 picks and plenty of cap money. I want quality over quantity.

We may not pick 4th again for a long time so let's make it count. IMO Spence and Kearse are worth missing on a future QB. We already have 2 starting DEs and Spence has some red flags. He was a great value pick in the 2nd but middle of the 1st is trouble.

Elliott is a sure fire impact player . He is not overrated at all.

So hes not an upgrade then. Dallas rb position is sure fire impact position. Go get a need. The team has plenty of them. Rb is not the most immediate one.

I do too. That team is a quarterback away from the playoffs. And they have the running game and defense to protect a young rookie quarterback.

As for the mock, if we drop to 15 and Ezekiel Elliott is there, we've GOT to take him. I think he'd make more of an immediate impact than Spenc. He also is our Romo insurance.

I'm for resigning Hardy, especially since I believe we can get him on the cheap. And I expect both DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory to be better in 2016.

Otherwise, I do like the mock.

This if we are at 15 and don't take Elliot then there isn't any hope. .....unless a top 5-8 talent fell like Jack or Ramsey

RB is a need, was last year and is this year. McFadden did well and stayed healthy all season but he is closing in on over 30 mark.

Look what RB did for the Rams and Falcons, even Seattle with Rawls.

Personally I would take Dixon, Collins, Booker etc. in rounds 2-4 that way we can grab a much better player in round one. But if Elliot is there on a trade down and a top 10 guy didn't fall then I pray we take Elliot
