The MNF game featured some awful QB play.

the 'experts' disagree ;). hell, even emmitt was giving him some props.

i think i'm seeing a combination of skins hate and the fact that romo is playing very well with regards to the 'campbell is terrible' crowd.

i know its too much to ask for objectivity on a cowboys message board, but a little sanity shouldnt be.:) the kids making some nice plays!

First, I think Campbell has something, he just isn't even close to being a very good QB yet, and thats IF it's possible. I'm not sold that he has that much talent yet. As for the 'experts', they always say good things about the winning team. They have to, as they would get laughed right off the show if they said they said the Eagles played better and McNabb was just going to get better. You can't be all negative. Campbell didn't light it up, he only had a 75.2 passer rating. Nothing exciting about it. What I saw is someone who had terrible accuracy issues. (I didn't get to see the whole game)

Potential is just another word for you haven't accomplished anything yet.

That's such a crock. It's one of those cliches people use because they heard Mike Ditka or somebody use it on TV. With regard to professional football playeers, other words for "potential" are "talent," "skills"' and "ability." You may disregard potential when judging players, but most people do not.

Campbell may turn out to be a very good qb, but he is currently terrible. The Commanders are obviously willing to take their lumps this season to develop Campbell, but this decision will prevent them from being much of a threat for the division title. Yes, they are 2-0, but they will drop a lot of easy games against weaker opponents as a result of Campbell's mistakes and ineffectiveness.

Neither I nor anyone else has disputed any of that. My only point was that Campbell has displayed ability that gives me reason to think he could become a quality starter in the NFL, and judging him on nine games is a little premature.

Sorry I just don't think Campbell is good. He is a bus driver right now. So far the skins have not had to ask him to win games for them since other teams have made more mistakes than they have. Campbell is not going to win the game for you, but he is not going to loose it either. He will never be a top 10 QB in the league.

Do people even read posts before they respond?

Now I have to go scrub my keyboard and take a shower. I feel so dirty.

Perhaps I am in the minority concerning this issue, but Campbell demonstrated, in my opinion, attributes that will one day make him a great quarterback. He made some mental mistakes, but those should be avoided in the future with experience. I, of course, must include the general disclaimer in this passage that I love the 'Boys and hate the 'Skins.

Cutler has shown more than Campbell though.

The first game of the season he showed excellent poise and drove his team down the field for the game winning field goal with minimal time left.

Cutler's talent level is through the roof. He is learning. This kid is not only going to be good, he is going to be VERY good. I'm talking close to Carson Palmer good. Palmer has a lot more recieving talent and several more years of experience than Cutler. Quinn, Jackson, Campbell, Schaub, Rivers and many many others are all far less talented than Cutler. Within two years, he will be considered among the elite QBs in the league. (providing Denver takes care of him)

Don't even know the stats of your own QB. He has thrown 1 TD. Just as many as LT has thrown.

This is your QB

I cannot trash Campbell as much as I would like because last night, for once, he did some good things along with all the bad...and he's still very raw and he was in someone else's house...so I will give him a break for now. But last night was the first time that I saw "just a little something" from him...

McSoup on the other hand....

If he's injured and plays bad, then it's his fault and no one elses!! :bang2:

He has poise and potential. His scounting report is right, he is a mental midget. Perhaps that is why you think he has poise, because he is too stupid to get excited about anything. Maybe next time he can take the high heels off and not trip over his own man.
I believe making he biggest play of the game after 3 straight penalties would be considered poise. Or maybe he just screamed Captain Caaaaaavemaaaaaaan and used his club to whack the ball to Chris Cooley like the neanderthal you're making him out to be.

Cutler played very well least season. He was the 11th pick in the draft, and he's on a good Denver team with a strong running game and decent receivers. I've seen him make impossible throws off his back foot Boomer Esiason style. I really don't see what that has to do with Jason Campbell though.

Before Skins fans start getting excited about Campbell (and before us Cowboy fans start getting real scared), here is -imo- a sobering comparison to a former "future QB for the skins" that was selected in the first round after the skins traded up for him.

Patrick Ramsey first 9 starts:
159/287 (55%)
12TDS/9INTS
2080 yards
7.24ypa
13ypc
72.3 rating
record: 5-4
Big Wins: @TENN, DAL(1st win vs. Dallas in Snyder's tenure), NYJ in NFL Thursday opener

Jason Campbell First 9 starts
138/257 (54%)
11TDS/9INTS
1728 yards
6.7 ypa
12.5ypc
74.5 rating
record: 4-5
Big wins: @NO, @PHI

The stats are as close to identical as you can get over a 9-game sampling. Ramsey is now on his 3rd team in 3 years. I recall the day when Skins fans were saying how great Ramsey would be. They are saying the same thing now with Campbell after a mediocre performance in a couple of hard-fought wins. Calm down.

I will give credit where credit is due. It was a good play. But even a blind squirl finds a nut sometimes.

Something is off on your little comparison here. Ramsey beats out Campbell in completion percentage, TD to INT ratio and ypa (factors for QB rating) and somehow has a lower QB rating??? Something you may also want to include is sacks, because Campbell has been good buying time/gaining yards and first downs with his legs whereas Ramsey looked like a deer in the headlights when pressure came.

Anyways, it's clear that the offense is outta sync still, but it's getting better. I think we'll see more productivity and better moving the ball against the Giants.

Not really a fair comparison unless you put Campbell into a Steve "Blocking Optional" Spurrier offense for a couple of years.

Ramsey probably still wakes up with cold sweats.

Well duh. :)

Good luck against Strahan on Sunday. The right side of that line will need it!
