The Myth of the greatest O'Line to ever play the game

I am surprised about them too. I don't understand it. My apologies to Callahan because I didn't think he was that important. Definitely wrong on that one

What concerns me about this, is with 4 first round talents, should one coach be the difference between 3 pro bowlers vs. zero? I still would expect them to play at a very high level and be the strongest uunit on the team....for some reason, that doesn't seem to be the case. :(

We need a proven head coach...

Let the Cleveland Browns develop young coaches.

Somehow we went 12-4 last year. I don't think it's scheme. Everyone praised Garrett last year. Everyone praised Linnehan. Romo going down hurts the line. Still, they didn't protect him when he was playing. Honestly, the worst thing this organization did was try and keep everyone "healthy" and dial down the intensity in training camp. We needed the opposite.

Callahan must be one good position coach, the Deadskin's Offense has been a lot more dynamic this year with him : (

The Greatest OL in the NFL, Anybody can run behind this OL...it all went to their heads.

Agree, but being an offensive lineman is about talent, motivation, and technique. They have the talent. We've seen that. The other two attributes are in question. Callahan motivated them and expected perfect technique. He may have been a terrible offensive coordinator but has the track record of being a very good offensive line coach.

They were the best O line in 2014
And we'd still be calling them that if we'd had the kind of passing attack we had in 2014. Even so, we're as good as or better than 2014 in most categories. The difference is that, without the downfield passing threat for most of the season, we're seeing more defenders within 10 yards of the LOS this year, and the 2nd-level yardage isn't there anymore.

Tape is out on us. Like any player in the league, usually after a dominating season you come down to earth next season once you've been studied

I have the Sunday Ticket, so I have watched every game this season.
Almost like groundhog day, at some point the broadcast crew will say something to the effect :
The best line in the NFL and spew the accolades.

Truthfully who or what are they watching ?

I have seen this line get dominated week after week by the likes of the Bucs, Phins, Panthers ect...
They have had few good performances, with or without Romo, so don't use that as an excuse.

Don't know what their deal is, but this has been one of the most disappointing aspects of this season.

Maybe Callahan meant that much to them but the regression of this unit has been both shocking and sad to see.

I have noticed same thing. It really goes to show once people get an initial impression its hard to break. I still think this OL can be really good with right RB.

I'm not sure I've ever once heard a fan say this was the greatest oline of all time.
Not once.

I did hear so rookie say he hoped they could become that some day--which is not remotely the same.

Since before the Playoffs last season, they've under-performed. They no longer deserve the title.

I think bad coaching and/or poor use of talent is the main culprit of our dismal season.

I don't think that is a fair statement because he never truly was the offensive coordinator except in title. If he had been the true offensive coordinator he would have been allowed to actually run his offense instead of Garrett's. He has done very well in the past as an OC when allowed to actually run his offensive scheme.

5 will get you 10 that's in the media guide. MOST broadcast crews don't think for themselves.

They say it because they are all 1st round picks, and last year they and murray had a good 1st half of a season.
Now they just keep saying it, and not sure why.

I always said they were good but not great, they got beat in some games last year too.

But calahan missing could be the problem, or the new guy pollack, who I think JG hired him, if so he will be here next year too.
Pollock could be the problem.
Also our playbook is old and vanilla and Defenses are reading it and knowing what we are going to do.
Carolina was reading it so well they could stop most plays with no gain, and the ints were due to them knowing what the play was.

All of our problems are coaching related, so fire all the coaches and hire some new ones.

Good point. Although for half a season when he was running the offense it was stagnant, which is why Garret took over. He was implementing the west coast offense, and Romo was throwing 5 yard passes. His scheme (though good for some QB's) was a poor fit for us. We are not a three step drop team.

So we're going to act like there haven't been any holes to run through, and the QB hasn't had any time to throw? The problem this year has been injuries, suspensions, and predictable play calling.
