I have the Sunday Ticket, so I have watched every game this season.
Almost like groundhog day, at some point the broadcast crew will say something to the effect :
The best line in the NFL and spew the accolades.

Truthfully who or what are they watching ?

I have seen this line get dominated week after week by the likes of the Bucs, Phins, Panthers ect...
They have had few good performances, with or without Romo, so don't use that as an excuse.

Don't know what their deal is, but this has been one of the most disappointing aspects of this season.

Maybe Callahan meant that much to them but the regression of this unit has been both shocking and sad to see.

the minute a Cowboy player makes a few good plays, he gets crowned the greatest of all time, its a ******* joke, then the rest of his career he's ripped for not living up to expectations

(hyperbole intended)

The offensive line coach we have now tried to teach Oakland to zone block, couldn't do it and was fired after one season. That was his first pro gig as head OL coach. I had concerns about Frank Pollack in that regard and we've seen a definite drop-off in the play of the line. Just think what kind of shape we'd be in if we didn't have so many talented linemen who can get by to some extent on ability alone.

I don't think it's necessarily a question of Dallas needing Callahan, but simply one of Dallas not needing Pollack. There are more qualified O-line coaches out there that could easily succeed with this group.

Pass blocking was never a strength of this line, and whether you want to hear it or not, poor QB play affects the running game. We're better in short yardage this year, and we're getting more first downs per rush than last year, and our average per carry is only slightly lower. Considering the state of the passing game, I'm more impressed with the running game this year than last. And this comes from someone who wanted to draft a RB, was concerned about short yardage, and not thrilled at all with the McFadden pick up.

Problem is, many, many people don't realize that the running game is only a complement to the passing game.

Mods, thanks for not moving this to the Rant Zone,
I feel this is one of the greatest issues the team has faced this year and is worthy of full discussion.

Not all complaint/negative threads are moved .. just the ones that have been debated endlessly already and offer nothing new to the debate :)

Kirk Cousins has completed close to 70% of his passes this season.. Let that fact register in your head as it relates to what Callahan brings..

The very first year they tried him at OC here, with Garrett interfering and him trying to adjust with this offense, Dallas penalties dropped from like upper 30s to mid-20s..

If anything he takes pressure off the QB..

Doug Free kills any talk of best of all time..

It's still the most talented group in the league imo.

We are playing the worst offensive scheme in football guys with super predictable playcalling. Keep that in mind.

It's takes about 4 seconds for our slow receivers to get open. It's a 3 step drop get the ball out quick league. Quarterbacks stay upright and don't take hits that way. Tony holds the ball too long. It's a philosophy issue.

The only people saying best of all time were those setting up a straw man to take down. People were calling this the best in the league and at the very least, it belongs in that discussion.

It's been an issue for years.
