Not even close. The NFL made a huge mistake pushing the draft back two weeks. With the the whole Donald Sterling story and the Nba Playoffs being so great with 5 first rd series going to game 7's this weekend it has totally killed any hype or buzz leading into the NFL Draft on Thursday.

I'm a diehard NFL Draft guy and I haven't been this disinterested in the draft since the 80's when I was a kid. I bet this will be the lowest rated least watched Draft in some time.

I'll take that bet. No doubt, the NBA is riding high right now. That league should build on their current popularity for the future. However, the NFL Draft will eclipse the NBA when it airs. Only the NBA Finals would knock it into second place if it and the Draft would go head-to-head. And it would not be by a wide margin in my opinion.

[EDIT]

I'm already starting to waver on my NBA Finals comment...

And why should we care?

At any rate, I do not think the ratings will decline. This draft has a lot of intrigue, even more than in years past due to the extra overanalysis.

Now if it were another group of players, one without polarizing prospects like Bridgewater, Manziel and Clowney, I might agree.

I respect your opinion, but I'm going to disagree. This draft, according to many experts, is one of the deepest drafts in years, in terms of talent. Granted, it's not deep in all the places the Cowboys have a need, but it is just deep enough to afford Cowboys fans a little hope going into this next year about their contention chances. Of course, my opinion there may very well change following the draft dependent on what the Cowboys do, but as of right now I'm pretty stoked.

As far as the Donald Sterling story, I really honestly wish the sports network would move back to draft coverage. Donald Sterling issues, in my opinion, doesn't even belong in sports discussions.

Unfortunately it will work out for the NFL, but for me personally moving the draft back has come very, very close to frustrating me to the point of noninterest. Two extra weeks of "pre-draft coverage" ie a bunch of analysts giving daily wild guesses as to who might draft whom for made-up reasons. It's aggravating.

For about a week now I have flat refused to listen or watch any coverage because I'm sick of this nonsense.

I kind of hope the ratings do tank, but I don't think they will. If they did, perhaps they would put it back in April where it rightfully belongs.

Hardcore fans who follow the draft basically since the season has ended are getting frustrated and antsy at the same time. The average football fan who does not pay attention to the draft that much probably is actually more intrigued by the extra two weeks of idiotic rumor mongering.

Shame on you! I LOVEEEEE the Draft, and I am as interested in it as any other year. I countdown the days from the last draft, that is how into it, I am. You cares, what the running story is on ESPN!

When the NFL walks into the nations's living room Thursday night you can bet your life everybody else will graciously step aside - no need to nip at the king's heels.

If you think the NFL draft is exciting now.Just imagine if it had a national signing day like in college.
Any player could end up going anywhere regardless of draft position. If I was in charge that's exactly what I would do.

A national signing day for the NFL.
Any team can negotiate with any player.

The draft will be exciting up to the point where we find out where Manziel gets drafted. After the Cowboys pick at 16 I'll be channel surfing the rest of the night. I just can't get into another year of 8-8 followed by excuses and a Jason Garrett extension.

Last season really took a lot out of my expectations with this orginazation. We're a long way aways guys.

Who cares about watching the draft? It's the regular season that matters. And the NFL will pound everyone in those ratings.

You know I kinda like that idea. But the product is so good right now, I'd be reluctant to change it.

The NBA is kicking the NFL's butt? The NFL has between 4.5 billion to 5 billion reasons to disagree
