Dak fan that wants the Cowboys to put playoff incentives in his new contract.

Protects the team, force Dak to bet on himself, and let's see where that leads.

It feels like Jerry is souring on Dak. But then again, we also thought he was souring on McCarthy when he said "we'll see how each game goes", and then didn't blink after a historic collapse all while a few coaching carrots were out there dangling.
Even a wildcat oil-guy eventually tires of drilling dry holes in the same field.

It would be insanity to extend Dak at this point. Jerry & Spaulding made this bed, and they may have to lay in it for a year or two (along with the rest of us), while thinking about what they've done. They gambled on Dak, big-time, and it's backfired badly.

If we extend him it will break an already fractured locker room. Players are already speaking up and paying Dak is not going to go over well.
"Players are already speaking up"?

Which Cowboys player spoke up against Dak?

Jerry SHOULD bite the proverbial bullet and jot it down for stupidity on their part agreeing to that contract and make the proper cuts on the team to absorb this cap hit. They put the gun to their own heads. An extension will be the coward's way out and just extend the misery and ineptitude this team suffers in the post season. Dak is not your guy. Who else?.. well they would be forced to find out who. Jerry will do the Jerry thing.....coward. The hamster wheel keeps going round and round.

As we all know, he's in the last year of his contract and has a massive cap hit of nearly $60MM. As the regular season was rolling, the accepted belief was that Jerry/Stephen would extend him and lower that cap hit for 2024. But then the playoff happened. And now, you are seeing some people wonder if Jerry will, in fact, extend him or rather, like McCarthy, let him play out the year on that last year almost as a try out.

Now, Dak could end up playing at his cap number in 2024 either because Jerry didn't want to extend him OR Dak and his agent were just over the top in any negotiations. If it's Jerry that decides to hold off on an extension, whew boy, that's giant neon sign about what Jerry really thinks about Dak. There is no chance you let what you think is a franchise QB play out his final year unless you have some doubts.

Not extending Dak also has a trickle down effect. Because with our cap situation, if Dak can't provide cap savings, then you are going to have to find it elsewhere which means likely restructuring guys you normally would avoid and/or you go cheaper than you normally do in FA. You likely end up with a roster worse than this one.

I believe he'll get extended. But if he doesn't whew boy, that's going to be interesting times around this board.
No way Dak gets an extension.
Between the fan base and the locker room, he is either a post-June 1st cut or he plays out the final lame-duck year on his contract.
How soon do some of you forget the Tomato cans he whips on and his failures against real teams?
Look away from the reality as it's a free country but thinking he's gonna get a massive extension is wishful thinking at this point.
Cheers to the lame-duck year ahead of us and I hope we go 0-17 to pick up a stud QB in the draft!

Prepare yourself for disappointment.

There is ZERO chance he's getting cut. ZERO.

If they were going to cut him, even as a June 1 cut, they'd do it in early March. Why? Because he's due a $5MM roster bonus on the 5th or 7th day of the league year. It would be stupid to have that roster bonus kick in AND THEN cut him causing to have to eat $5MM more in dead money.

I'm aware of your Dak love but you have a better chance of being hit with a meteorite than Dak getting a massive extension!

Having the softest pass defense schedule in the league allowed him to put up some pretty numbers so the Jones boys will definitely extend him because like his supporters, they're not smart enough to see through the mirage.

Dak is the boxer that puts together a string of victories over ham and eggers and the promoters give him a shot against a lower ranked contender and he gets ktfo in the 3rd round.

Interesting, you see going far into the playoffs and maybe winning a championship would be a blessing for me.

For you it's just seeing Dak getting extended, win or lose in the playoffs.

What are you, his DWF chauffer or something?
Dak getting extending is Dak over Dallas fans Super Bowl.

Any fan you see gloating about a Dak extension are Dak fans, not Cowboys fans.

Well, I mean they are going to be looking to create cap space and Dak's new deal would provide a heavy chunk of it. And it's quite possible, even likely, that Jerry thinks Dak is a franchise QB that you can't just let walk.

What would make this all interesting is if an extension doesn't happen.
Jerry is actually in a lose/lose situation. Which he put himself into.
