The next two weeks - the season is not over

Loser leaves the 2015 season. Whoever loses this can call it a season tbh.

Just curious (and before anyone jumps down my throat, I think we win at least one of the next two and remain alive for Miami):

When will it be enough for some to consider it over? Seven losses? Eight?

It is dependent on how many games the other teams we are competing with for playoff spots lose. That's how it's set up. So we won't know it's over until we see what they do. But 9 losses is a pretty good indication that we won't make it.

7-9 wins the division......It's just a matter of us winning our division games:thumbup:

Lose to Philly and it's likely over. Mathematically, it wouldn't be, but lose to Philly and sit at 2-6 and you are then saying the Cowboys have to go 6-2 the last 8 and that might not be enough if some team in the East gets to 9 wins.

It's not over until we are mathematically eliminated. It's not like the season being over is subjective. You're either in it, or you're not. Right now, we're in it.

Our record in a vacuum is irrelevant. All that matters is our record when compared with the other teams in our division. Right now, we have only one more loss than every other team in the division -- and none of them have faced the Patriots yet.

Exactly!
NYG- CAR, MIA, MIN, NE and PHI
PHI-MIA, DAL, BUF, ARI and NE
WSH- DAL (2xs) NE, CAR, and I can say one loss vs either NY or PHI.

Too much football is left. We stand to drastically improve with the return of Romo while our foes will continue their inconsistencies with no excuse.

And I won't count us out until mathematically eliminated. With Romo this is a SB caliber team. Just get into the playoffs even if it's 8-8 and watch the panic spread across our opponents.

Are people assuming that once Romo comes back we won't lose again?

Romo can't go 5-2 or 6-1? Funny, he did 6-1 twice last year.

8-8 wins this division.

Carolina
Green Bay
Buffalo in a blizzard
2 Commanders games
Jets.

I see at least 2 losses in there. Perhaps more. Even Miami on the road is no gimme. They need to win these next 2 games or they are done IMO.

One win won't be enough. If you are not 4-5 when Romo returns, then it looks extremely tough to win the division, even if you somehow end up in a tie with the Giants. Dallas went 6-2 over the final eight last year, but they were peaking. Lose this sunday and you enter that distinctive and dubious club of teams that have never made the playoffs (since 1978) after starting 2-6. This coming game is a must-win in my opinion. You still have games against division front runners in Green Bay and Carolina...not to mention some tough defensive fronts on the road...plus the Commanders, who always seem to have a trick or two up their sleeve. You need that two game cushion (next two games) to mitigate any gaffes along the way to a possible playoff appearance.

Lose this sunday and I would say that the chances of a post-season appearance likely falls into the single digits. Romo will need to immediately become the man he was last year, after being off the field for two months.

The Cowboys' win streak has to start this sunday or else...

If we win the next 2 weeks, we are in damn good shape

Yeah, true. The other teams in our division could all very possibly go 0-2. If that happens and we can somehow go 2-0, we would be back in first with Romo returning.

But with what I've seen the past five games, I won't hold my breath.

I only see one game they shouldn't be favored in and none that can't be wins.

Why is Buffalo a blizzard? And why does that favor Buffalo?

When it's mathematically impossible.

They won't be favored against either Carolina or Green Bay. But that doesn't matter. It's wins and losses that matter. I see at least 2 losses after the return of Romo.

That's 7 losses. We could still win the division at 8-8, but tie-breakers will likely play a part. THat's why the Philly game is so important. If we have to lose one of the next 2 games, it has to be the Tampa game.

And the Eagles have had 2 weeks to prepare for Sunday night.

Well if we win 1 of the next two, there's still no guarantee we can run the table when Romo gets back. This team has some problems on offense, and that problem is Garrett.

Sure wasn't a problem last year.
