BTW it's not "if" anymore, it's literally going to happen Tampa is hosting a playoff game.

In the AFC if Tennessee beats Jaguars they'll be an 8 win team hosting a game.

You mean like this year with the NFC East. Lol

No, I mean on years where the divisional games average out, and you have a bunch of 9-8 and 10-6 teams because the divisional teams are so strong.

This year, the Eagles have a very gaudy record, and the Cowboys pretty good too.

Wash/NY don't have good records.

There's a huge difference between philly's record vs Washington's

LOL

There’s an even HUGER( is that a word ) difference between Dallas and Tampa Bay’s records.

Washington and NY don’t have good records. Neither does Tampa Bay, but they are hosting a playoff game AND resting their players on the last weekend of the season. That really is dumb! Hopefully, the NFL will change this idiotic rule.

So who were these incredibly different and difficult teams that Tampa played that caused the alterations in their won/lost record. Without looking I dare say Dallas had a more difficult schedule.
Why are fans supporting this stupid rule. Now that there are only 4 teams in a division and 4 division, this comes up way to often. A strong division which usually has a tougher schedule, because the strong division is playing each other (see NFC East this year), will have 2 or even 3 teams with better records than the best team in the weakest division.

The teams that win the most games should make the playoffs AND be seeded according to their records, period!

Winning more GAMES should be rewarded over winning a bad division!

As Herm Edwards once said, “you play to win the game/games”

Everyone knows the rules going in. Win your division and you'll have no problems.
Of course we know the rule. It’s a dumb rule and should be changed. Why would you support a dumb rule?

If the NFL is truly about winning, then the best 7 teams make the playoffs and the 4 best records get a home game!

In 17 game seasons I think the NFL should have 2 buy weeks and only the last place Division should have to play. Meaning the top 3 divion winners should get a buy week

Then the last place Division winner is basically treated like a wild card team

Karen crying over something they think is unfair. Grow a pair and deal with it.
It’s not that complicated winning the most games should take priority over winning a weak as_ division. The teams with the best records should host playoff games!

Why would you insult people over a rule that is so stupid? You should say, yeah it’s a stupid rule and should be changed in the near future.

What about, just have the 7 best records make the playoffs, and the 4 best records get a bye? Simple, clean, fair, and most importantly, rewards the teams that win the most games. How do some fans not understand this? It’s so simple!

They won their division. What's the problem??
We are plus 4 in wins. That’s the problem!

Winning the most games should be rewarded, not winning a weak as_ division.

What should be MORE important winning a weak as_ division, or winning more games?

The NFL should make winning more important and change this dumb rule for next season!!!

The league has been designed around Division rivalries. With playoffs expanded so half the league makes them, they've got to make winning the division mean something, or the NFL regular season becomes the NBA regular season.
No it doesn’t! Not at all!

By rewarding the top 7 teams in each division a playoff slot, and the top 4 teams a home game, you keep more teams trying to WIN as many games as possible, all the way through the season.
TB will be resting players. The won a very weak division and their motivation to win their last game even though they are only 8-8 is small.

This is dumb. Hopefully, the owners will change this next year.

The game is broken down into Conferences

With four divisions in each Conference

3 wild cards

The NFC East has the best records this year but that doesn't mean it's the Strongest division in the Conference.

Some teams with 12-4 records are not as good as teams with 9-8 records.

Minnesota is a prime example
Just as TB is also.

Minnesota might be an 8-8 team if they played in a different division

Tampa Bay will win their division. The Cowboys likely won't.

Division winners deserve a home game over a wild card team.
Why does an 8 win division winner, from a weak as_ division, deserve a home playoff game vs a 12 game winning team from a strong division?

Winning more games should be rewarded WAY more than winning a weak division!

Winning should be rewarded above all else in the NFL! How do some of you not understand this?

They play entirely different schedules.

Comparing records doesn't work.

Division winners host. Don't like it? Win your division.
They play entirely different schedules. Good point. The team that wins the shitt_ division usually plays the weaker schedule because they are playing 3 weak teams twice.

Do you realize how much easier it is to win a division when you only need to win 8 games compared to 13?

You should be saying this is a dumb rule, winning should be the ultimate goal. Let’s get rid of this rule next year, and have the top 7 records make the playoffs, with the top 4 records getting the top 4 seeds.

Reverse the teams and you wouldn't be saying that.
Of course I would. If Dallas was 8-9 and TB was 13-4, I would say we don’t deserve the home game.

Two things can be true I want Dallas to win, but I want us to win ethically. No Patriots shenanigans!!!

We play against Washington, Philly, and the Giants for the NFC east division crown every year.

It's been the weakest division for several years and was 6 easy wins for us last year.

Our team is built to compete against our division rivals and win the division first and foremost going back 62 years.

We were a top division winner last year and we got blown out by a lower seeded division winner at home because we had the best record but play in a Weaker division. Lol

Minnesota has a 12-4 record prolly 12-5 after next week but they are one of the sorriest teams in the playoffs even though they won 12 games. Ha ha ha

They've scored less than their opponents lol.

Strength of Schedule factors in to the equation but we rotate every year so we play each team from each conference every four years

Go to how the nfl determines the schedule and read it

If they change it to the best conference record vs the best division record they'ed have to change the scheduling to reflect that to make it fair and have to hire 1000 people and a million computers vs 10 people and hundreds of computers

This year, all teams from the NFC East play all teams from the NFC North and the AFC South. That’s eight games, nearly half the schedule, devoted to a predetermined turning of the dial from one division to the next, year after year.

The NFC North and the AFC South is who the NFC East drew this year. All 8 of those common oppponent teams are 8-8 teams except the Vikes lol.

That's why we all have more wins and it's broken down by divisions.

Don't let the Records and easy schedule fool ya when we get on that grass in Tampa Bay ha ha ha

Alot of those teams that have the sorriest records drew the toughest conferences this year.
