Oh man... would you be standing up about this issue if we were benefiting from it?

Or are you "whatever doesn't help ME, is unfair"- Guy?
The team with the best record should be at home! Simple!
You didn’t earn anything if you win 8 games in a crappy division and get a home game vs a 12-13 game winning team.
Home field is a big advantage in the NFL!

It happens often, it doesn't matter the deserving team will find a way to win.
Home field is a big advantage. To use your verbage . The team with the best record deserves home field advantage.

Also, because TB is in such a shitt_ division they have already locked up the division. They can rest guys while we are still trying to rack up wins. To rest guys is another advantage they don’t deserve.

You wouldn't be saying that if the records were reversed, and the rule was helping the Cowboys. The Bucs won a bad division...but there are other times when every team in a certain division is very very good (happened in AFC West a couple years ago), where the division could beat each other up, making it so no one team had a gaudy record. Should they be punished because some other team with a cushy schedule racked up a bunch of fluff wins?

If you want the best records to trump a division winner, then they won need to abolish divisions, and not have teams play some teams twice each year. Just have each NFL team play 17 different teams each year

Probably would have helped if you don't lose 2 OT
games to teams you should have beaten.
Plus losing to Tampa in the first place.
Loses have consequences.
Loses have consequences? Not if your TB with 8 losses! LOL

Just because it is a rule in the NFL( division winners get a home game)does not mean it is a good rule!
The NFL constantly changes rules to make the game better. They need to change this rule!

Some of you are such rule followers, you argue for a dumb rule! Why don’t you argue to change the dumb rule?

Sheesh....as if whining about flags wasn't enough, now we have people whining about the division winner rule.

They never mentioned it before mind you,....only now because we could possibly benefit from a rule change.

Please don't help perpetuate the perception that we're a bunch of crybabies. Nobody respects a crybaby. Man up....win ur division ...and if you can't, have some self respect and do the best you can with whatever seed position you end up with.

Please post the threads from early in the year, or prior years, where people in here were lobbying for this rule change BEFORE it turns out that this suggested rule change would benefit us.

If it's a horrible rule....then I'm assuming there was outrage about it well before we learned it would have any bearing on us?

Yes I would!
This is an extremely stupid rule! The 7 teams with the best records should make the playoffs in each conference. You can still win a shitt_ division and get a banner and keep your rivalries( if you want), but you should not be hosting a playoff game to a team with a better record.
These mediocre teams do pretty good in there 1st playoff game because they are at home and, like TB this year, they will be resting while we are still trying to secure wins.

I've been requesting a change for next year. Not this year. This year I would love a home game but Dallas has NOT EARNED a home playoff game by rule. If the league wants general fairness for all, change the rule for next year during the offseason, where no one can say which teams will benefit.

So you were making these posts in prior years about this rule, on years where it didn't affect us one way or the other?

Hmmm ok. Would you want to stop the "each division plays their own division teams twice every year" rule? I.E. we would only play Wash, Philly, NY once a year?

I think you would have to do that, or else that rule would really hurt teams where all 4 teams in a given division just happened to be REALLY good in the same year, and beat each other up

I have been saying this for years.

Look at this year. If the best 7 teams in the NFC made the playoffs( by record ) TB, GB, Detroit, and Seattle would all be fighting for the 6th and 7th playoff spot.
TB with an 8-8 record would not be resting players.
Does TB deserve to rest players by winning a crappy division?
GB, Detroit, and Seattle all have similar records to TB and they are all playing to get 1 more win. TB should be too!!!

Adding the extra wildcard team has watered down the playoffs some in my opinion. However, the extra wildcard team and the extra game has given more teams a chance. The league wanted more teams having a shot at the playoffs the final week of the season. There were too many meaningless season finale games prior to the changes.
I like one team getting a bye versus two

Talk about hurting teams where all 4 teams in a division are REALLY good in the same year! And beat each other up! Hello! See this year.

You can keep the divisions, or not, and still have the 7 best records make the playoffs. I actually would like to see teams only play teams once.

Of course it cannot be changed this year, but in the near future it should be.
The best 7 records in each conference should make the playoffs, period!

Why are fans supporting a really dumb rule, when they should be discussing changing a really dumb rule. The NFL changes rules all the time!

You can’t win a discussion with logic and reasoning so you revert to name calling on your phone! LOL
See my reasoning below.

Forget about what other people think. Think about this in a logical way.
Because of the NFL rules, that can be changed( the NFL changes rules all the time) A team with 12-13 wins will be traveling, in the playoffs, to play a team that has 8-9 wins. ALSO, because the 8-9 win team already has their crappy division wrapped up, they do not need to try and win anymore games. They will be resting players the last week of the regular season, while the 12-13 win team, will still be trying to win their division on the last week of the season.

If the NFL strictly, seeded the playoffs, by the top 7 records in each conference THEIR WOULD BE MORE INCENTIVE TO WIN EVERY GAME. The way it should be!! TB would still be competing with Seattle, GB, and Detroit for the 6th and 7th seed.

Hmmm ok. Not sure the divisions would mean anything... but abolishing divisions and only playing teams once would make the Top7 records thing work.

Would really dampen rivalries though
