They dont lose 28 billion a year either, that is a ridiculous figure.
Probably more like 1 mil a year.
Most that watch a illegal stream are not going to pay for it if that stream is gone.
You have not factored in advertising revenue opportunity lost to pirating. I dislike Goodell and the multiple league owners' message but his figures are closer than they are to $1 million per year.

Illegal streaming of sports has been going on for over a decade. Leagues are obviously aware of this. So, what have leagues done? Instead of figuring out ways to incentivize people to watch games in a legal matter, they spend countless hours and money trying to figure out how to just stop it from happening without coming up with a solution that streamers and the leagues are both happy with.

I don’t mind paying for Sunday ticket. Yeah it’s a bit expensive. But I get full on entertainment all day, every Sunday for 18 weeks with it.

Personally I think it’s worth it.

I do think it’s kind of odd that the NFL still follows the format of using local broadcasts for a large number of their games.

Would it be great if every game was nationally broadcast via cable channels? Absolutely.

But overall it’s really not that bad. I mean let’s be real folks. Even without Sunday ticket. You can get multiple games per week for free via antenna if you want.

Depends on your area though. Even with a long range antenna I struggle to get our games in south College Station.

I damn sure won't pay for cable, it's a waste. My 5g does ok, but our wifi isn't the best. We just recently got additional internet providers in town, before that it was basically a monopoly of trash service. If the service is decent I may pay for youtube or something. I dunno.

Well, I am old enough to remember Sunday early and late games only. And FOX did not exist. :muttley:

My family was lucky. My father installed one of those tall mast antennas. It towered over our one-story home. The local CBS affiliate broadcast would come true clear with simple rabbit ears where we stayed. NBC or ABC? ABC usually but a decent storm messed with reception. NBC would only come through on perfect weather days.

Even though standalone technology has improved over the decades and network affiliates have boosted their signals, there are a significant number of rural residents who face the same reception challenges. That should not be the case in the 21st century in my opinion.

Preach brother...

Why don’t the NFL offer packages. Buy your favorite teams games for X amount. Or buy a single game for X. Why not expand your options to people so it don’t cost 350 bucks for 5 or 6 months worth of entertainment and the entertainment for most of us during that time is about 4 hours once a week. 350 bucks for maybe 24 days of entertainment. Games last 3 hours or so. So what 72 hours of entertainment. 350 bucks for 72 hours.

I'm out of market.

Still, I only ever don't get the occasional noon game so it really doesn't matter too much.

I don't even have Amazon Prime. Not worth it for one game and the NFL Network reruns them anyway.
You have the gift of patience. I am patient also but not when comes to watching something I really want to see. :)

My hope is that Prime has evaluated and corrected the problems it had during its initial season broadcasting Thursday Night Football. Their product must be worthy of streaming for the price they charge for simply signing up for Prime itself.

I'm a fan of different packages, but you're making a pretty good argument against that lol. 350 bucks for 72 hours of entertainment is an extremely good deal, it just sounds bad when you pay it in one large lump sum. Break that down and it's less than $5 per hour of entertainment, plus you have the option to watch more if you want. Very few entertainment options for that low of a price breakdown.

Wish they stop being hypocrites and put as much effort and enthusiasm into removing their association with betting from sports........just saying. Greed is correct, as long as they get their cut, something illegal is legal. Sounds like racketeering to me, except Goodell and the rest of the white collar mobsters don't get thrown in jail.

Starting games in progress was one of my biggest pet peeves with NFL Sunday Ticket when I was a customer. Why the bleepity bleep bleep must I wait for MY Sunday game to come on when the EARLY game is running late? \

A network is broadcasting both games. A signal is going out for the late game already. Just because the network refuses to switch to the late game does not mean a so-called exclusive 'see every game' subscription service cannot supply its customers WITH the late game's signal when THEIR game starts.

Idiots. It is all-exlusive pay per view but must wait until <expletive> ends before I can see what I am paying for.

In the Dallas area, there is no option for NBA or MLB games of the home team. There are sites which provide access, but the lag almost makes them impossible to watch.

T he pissing match between Bally sports and the owners of The Mavs and Rangers means I can’t even purchase the sport’s package because the local teams are blacked out.

I am not one to cry about corporate greed. But the Godzilla vs Mothra war ends up sending me to pirate sites.

None of this makes sense. They are leaving money on the table for both sides.

Well it’s like UFC ppv cost 40 bucks and lasts for hours with prelims and main card. Can go from 7pm till 1am. And will usually replay for 24 hours.

NFL if you’re lucky they play 24 or 25 games I guess if you make the SB. That’s around 15 bucks a game. They could charge 15 bucks ppv for the game and rake it in. Some of your games are shown for free on tv. The playoff and SB is free. But for me in Florida I would miss maybe 4 or 5 games a year that’s not shown on my local channels. 350 bucks for 5 games is a killer. I don’t care about the other teams but it’s nice to be able to watch rival or divisional games. But not 350 bucks worth of nice.

I feel really bad for those billionaires losing out on another $28 billion. How will they feed their famiiies?
Reminds me of people illegally downloading music a long time ago. The bands were mad and i remember one saying I should make 18 million off this album but i am only gonna make 15 or 16. I have to feed my family.

I get it. I really do but that was the wrong example to bring. Some of the people downloading the music or watching the game on a pirate site can barely afford their internet bill. Much less 350 bucks to see the games. I knew one guy that ate ramen noodles for 2 months out of the year so he could get Sunday ticket.
