The offensive line was killed. What's your suggestion?

If a new agreement is reached, won't Marcus McNeill be unrestricted?

Do we need to upgrade the o-line? Yes! Do we need to blow it up? Heck no.

Could it be that our o-line this past weekend faced fresh legged guys across from them that pretty much had two weeks to game-plan against them? I'd say they did.

Plus, Flo hasn't been bad at all with penalties this year that I have seen. That's just an over-used excuse now that quite frankly wasn't true this year.

Flo started of the year bad but down the stretch he played a lot better about the last 4-5 games he looked great before that it was a roller coaster ride with him.

Totally agree. The thing is...ALL of these guys are fine to START the season and hold up pretty well for MUCH of the season, but they wear down - the tackles especially. They will ALL likely start the season next year. The only question in my mind is whether or not we've drafted or signed the right people to learn what can be learned from them and come in later in the year.

I'll go on record here (and this is not much of a stretch)...if we don't draft a replacement tackle for either Flo or Columbo, one or both goes down next year and our season is OVER. Yesterday was just a preview of what is to come if we don't get some fresh legs - big, fast, mean legs - on the ends.

Romo needs to roll out and run when its there.

Thats a good start.

We make it too easy for defenses. Strahan said it, "we want to keep in the pocket and attack it".

Some designed roll outs might have helped. Cowboys just could not protect the edges AT ALL, it didn't matter if Cowboys kept 2 TEs or 2 RBs in.

And all those calling for Flo's head seem to have serious short term memory. Cowboys drove down the field 3 consecutive series w/Flo in the game (short circuited by Edwards b/c Columbo just could not contain him). As soon as Flo got hurt, the offense went to hell. Flo will be a Cowboy for awhile and you all will like it. Flo, Columbo and Free are still a nice trio of tackles, although Free may be pushing Columbo out of the starting lineup. If the Cowboys draft OL, they will go the same route they did last draft - interior OL w/versatility. I really like Iupati, he could be a beast in the NFL, but Pouncey better fits the profile that Cowboys are looking for, versatile enough to play center and guard.

This is what I would suggest:

LT: Free
LG: Kosier or Brewster
C: Gurode
RG: Davis
RT: 1st round pick

Flo: trade for best pick we can get
Colombo: trade for best pick we can get or backup tackle
Kosier: backup
Brewster: hopefully unseat Kosier before end of year
Proctor: backup Guard/Center for another year

I agree that he played well down the stretch but he's no spring chicken and is more susceptible to injury. By drafting his replacement NOW, we won't be screwed when he goes down even earlier next season.

Brewster and Bright let them beat out Kozier or try

draft C/G Pouncy or Erik Cook, New Mexico

and OT Fox or Jared Veldheer

time to blow up the backups

Neeed to know lot more about him before we go after him. If Pats letting him go, there's a reason. Maybe he wants too much money or maybe he doesn't play that well. It could also be that the Pats drafted some young OL & have a good player to replace Mankins.

Here's a suggestion: win enough games during the regular season to ensure that you don't face the best front four in football in their own house.

Best case scenario is this:

Brewster replaces Kosier as a solid starter
Gurode and Bigg come back as starters
Colombo retires or gets released and Free takes his position at RT
Flozell comes back but we draft his replacement in the 1st round

This is about the best suggestion I have seen. I would also draft another interior lineman somewhere in the middle rounds and perhaps sign a veteran RT for depth.

Kosier has been very steady but we can upgrade and we will need to anyway in a few years so why not now? Colombo was on one leg so its not fair to trash him right now; but once again we will need to replace him in a few years. Same with theHotel only more urgent. We need another top OT and we need a better OG. PLUS a better backup then the PROCTOLOGIST!!!

Romo touched on it after the game. Because of how loud it was it became very hard for him to check out of 1 play into another play based on the what the defense was doing. So we stayed in play that was called. The issue was not the play as much as the inablity to block. Vikes were getting off the ball quickly and once they would get us into a 2nd/3rd and long situation they pinned their ears back and got after Romo. Had we done a better job during the season maybe it is our house we are playing with someone else trying to overcome it.

I don't know if we blow up the line, however our Backups could be better, hopefully we have something in Travis Bright, his predraft reports said he was kind of a mauler, I know he pretty big around 330 lbs.

I REALLY agree with 'Latin Mind' here guys: Kosier is sound and stable, but gets OVERWHELMED by big, powerful tackles. Williams lambasted him all game: literally was in the backfield every down he was in the game. Realistically, they need to make Kosier a backup next season, but in order for that to happen someone has to actually beat him out.....I'm not as down as Colombo as others, he was hurt at the end of the season and will be back next year for sure IMO. As for Flo...I've stuck up for him alot and would like to see Free take over, but the bottom line is you're going against the best of the best at LT. You guys SURE he's really ready for that? I'm not so sure personally. Bigg is sound and will be back obviously and Gurode, well...you can't fix stupid and he signed long term so get use to seeing him too............

BTW: I also agree with 'Sago' about Logan Mankins: keep hearing his name BUT Brady was running for his life vs. the Ravens....don't you think they'd keep the guy IF he could play?

How is asking our 30 year old franchise QB to roll out and run the answer? I prefer some of these other suggestions like upgrading the line. Just seems to be the more productive long term solution.

We can't draft anyone to immediately fix this. Free can man either tackle spot in my opinion. What about the other spots? Davis is a lock and so is Gurode. The odd men out are Kosier, Flo, and Colombo. I don't see Jerry signing another big name. I hope Brewster is the next Larry Allen. This is a dilemma.

Adams going down was the key to the loss. Colombo was getting beat on a speed rush. This is where Free could have helped by replacing Colombo. Free has far better lateral movement than Colombo. Problem was, he was replacing Adams and Jared Allen was just to much for Free.

If Adams stays healthy and they swap Free for Colombo, the Cowboys were in that game. The Defense got hung up to dry when the offense couldn't do anything.
