Yea, if we go WR early it’s a recipe for failure . These fantasy fans are absurd. WR is not a priority need or weakness for us.

Our needs are so glaring in OL and DL.
Not a fantasy fan at all and this thread is not about what I would do, it is about what I think they will do. Don't confuse the two.

And that WR is not a weakness for the Cowboys. Wasn't that what they told Booger before he had to trade for Cooper?

There is one unknown for sure, Gallup's availability and I don't care what they say, they lie about injuries. The one unknown unknown is do they think Lamb is the real deal at WR1?

I would love a DT like Wyatt but when did the Cowboys last make that sexy pick at DT in the 1st? Russell Maryland and that wasn't these Bozos.

What team really does BPA? The draft and FA are all about addressing problems and that is needs based. These mocks, see any based on BPA? Of course not and any GM playing BPA will be job hunting if he's not feeding peanuts to the elephant in the room.

QB's will be taken in this 1st round over BPA in every instance because there really isn't a 1st round prospect but there are needs that owners expect their GM's to address. Miss? That's one thing. Don't take the swing, that's totally different.

CIN and DAL can do whatever they want without someone to answer to but poor drafting is the #1 GM killer.

As more mocks come out, and that's because more GM's are talking, it is looking like the top 5 will be gone by 22 so unless Dotson or Pickens looks like the man, best to trade with KC and let them get the 6th WR unless they've already gone up for him.

But then, GB and KC know Adams was 2nd rounder and Hill, a 5th.

The odds are some of these in that Power 5 WR's are not going to show up as expected and some 2nd day guy will shine.

I wasn’t necessarily directing my response to you. I was directing to anyone who thinks WR is a pressing need in the 1st round.

If you agree with me and or intent is to criticize our front office then I’d suggest to present as such. Thanks

There is one way they go D in the 1st, they committed that to Quinn when he agreed to take himself off the market. They did that with Romo in order to get him soigned after Bpooger shot his mouth off.

And the best D player might just be a DT or LB.

I am not criticizing them as much as trying to think like they think. They're follow the ball people and all about the showbiz aspect of the game.

And I am not sure Booger grasps the concept that the best way to help his QB is at LG. He likes weapons.

With a surgery in mid to late February Gallup will be lucky to see 8 games this season.

Whether your model is to win now or rebuild, you have to run the ball & protect your QB. The team put themselves in a big hole by BOTH allowing Williams to leave & by cutting Collins. They got worse on purpose, & have no choice but to draft OL early & often.

Has Lamb played THAT badly where so many people think he can't be a "#1 WR?"

He has a drop problem that can be fixed.

Mind you this guy is a total bust if he can't be a WR1. Have to at least give him that shot.

I'm just surprised at how many jumped ship so quickly after doing cartwheels when he fell to us 23 months ago.

CD Lamb has a bright future ahead of him and there's ZERO reason to talk about ANOTHER 1st round WR while we continue to get beat in the trenches.

I think we should take WR with pick #88 (3rd rounder)...

I never thought he was a #1WR and I watched him play a lot. His strength was YAC in the Big 12 in a Lincoln Riley offense with a Heisman QB.

Like his predecessor at OU, Marquise Brown, they were both better than the secondaries in the Big 12 and had good run games for play action.

Things are tighter in the NFL and he is light for a WR that is not a deep ball WR. I am not saying he cannot be that WR1 but I have doubts.

As far as the drops being fixed, if that is so why hasn't that been fixed?

I do believe the Cowboys have an OL challenge with the hole at LG, a backup up at RT, a ? at Center and Smith's inability to stay healthy.

I also believe there are some good OL early in this draft but the fall off is pretty steep after 15; however, the next grouping is about the same through the first two days, if you buy into the draft analysis people.

They picked Williams in the 2nd and tried to change an OT to OG and it never really worked. McGovern was a 3rd and couldn't take the job from Williams. So, the odds of repeating that are too good. Bottom line is it takes time.

The WR position is deep with 6-7 projected in the 1st and there are some that could step in as a starter in the 3 man group, at least until Gallup is ready.

Under normal circumstances we'd say start building that OL with a 1st because they've done well with 1sts but those were better 1sts than what will be at 24. Trade up for a blue chipper day one starter? OK.

But this team has management that will never consider the word rebuild and they want to compete every year and are coming off a 12 win division winning season so what to address first? Whatever helps the QB the most. That is Job 1.

If the mode is win now, then the choice is simple, WR. Get another weapon for the QB with the 1st and then get the OL later.

This doesn't address DL or LB in the 1st because I don't think that is the debate, it will be offense in the 1st. If some edge guy fell, they might react to that but I think they're better at WR's in the 1st than DE's.

It does not matter what player they take in the 1st if the do not fix the latency with the QB. The Giants had this same issue with their OL and they worked with Manning to get his release out quicker, quicker reads with the understanding this could result in more picks. Better than strip sacks or injuries to the QB.

And this is not about the QB but about how to best help him in this draft. Yes, he needs a better OL but a better WR corps is easier to come by and quicker when they want to win now.
BPA at 24. We can find various types of WRs after round 1, and I believe we can find a starting LG in round 2 or 3.

We didn't have Lamb, Gallup, or Washington when we had to trade for Cooper. Not understanding why you might think it's a similar situation.

Only teams that might do BPA are stacked teams who are true super bowl contenders. BPA is not a draft strategy. It's a fan thing that people scream because they don't understand the NFL draft.

Fix the O-line and the offense will be more balanced and efficient.

Gallup's availability is questionable, Washington is just questionable and I don't know that they're sold on Lamb being a #1WR, I am not at this point.

And if it were me, I would be drafting OL and DT but it's not me, it is them and Booger likes WR's.

The BPA question will be interesting if the Power 5 WR's are gone before their pick. And as we know, BPA is totally subjective to each team.

If Lamb is not a #1WR, they are in trouble because this isn't a lift the team QB. He needs to execute the offense, not create it.

True, but Lamb is better than any WR we had on the roster at that point, as is Gallup.

Our 3rd WR, Washinton, is comparable to our 1 and 2 back then.

Still remains the question of Gallup's availability and Booger is not about to throw away the season for lack of WR's.

But I do not think he can sit at 24 and get one of the Power 5 WR's. He can get an OL but may not be any better than what they had.
