The Open Championship at the Old Course

One of the most clustered leaderboards for the final round in Open history. There at least 20 top golfers who could win this. Schwartzel, Harrington, Oostheisen, Rose, Lawrie, Scott, Goosen, ZJ, Spieth, and a few others have been there, won majors, and know what it takes. Sergio, Day, DJ, and Fowler are among those who are ready to break through.

DJ still has the ability to overpower this course.
He didn't shoot himself out of it, and may be better coming from behind.

If Dunne wins, it would be the first time since Bobby Jones in '27 that an amateur won the Open.

And of course, Jordan would also make history.

Should be great theater tomorrow.

I'm mainly irritated like heck that I can't play hooky from work to stay at home and watch the whole thing. I guess it's DVR and hope that no one spills the beans all day, which is an almost zero chance.

I'm going to be a little surprised if the winner doesn't come from the threesome of Spieth, Oosthuizen and Day. Much as I'd love the story of the Dunne pulling off an amazingly improbably win, it's much more likely that he'll come back to earth.

As great as Harrington's round was today, the odds against a player winning a major who's in his mid 40's are pretty long, even one as accomplished and talented as Harrington.

Maybe one of the talented group at -9 could pull it off, but they'll probably have to go pretty low on what sounds like will be a windy day.

Now that I've said that, it'll probably end up being a 3-way playoff between Johnson and the two amateurs for all the marbles. I suck at prognostication!

Zack Johnson is on fire, 4 under after 7 holes tied for 1st at 13 under

This could be a really wild finish.
A ton of great names all packed at the top with a few wildcards too.

Wow...Spieth bogied #8.
He's in trouble now, imo.

The fact that Jordan bounced back from the double bogie with a birdie is a good sign. Often you see the wheels come off with many players after that.

Back-to-back birdies at that. That kid tough, for sure.

Leishman is unconscious today though.
It's doable, but a really good group battling it out.

seems like all of the top 7-8 have either won a major or have been runner-up

True, it is a great leaderboard. Garcia however just had back to back bogies and as normal it is the putting that is getting him.

Being second to last group Jordan will have a good idea of what he needs to do

Speith just got robbed of a chip in on 13, I dont see how that ball didnt fall. Still 2 back seems doable.
