Yet another kick to the pills.

Lmao....I feel you. While we don't share the same loyalties to Wayne, there are most definitely movies that I don't ever want to see remade. Some of them are actually in the process of being made...like The Goonies.

If we are talking animated movies,

Despicable Me is hands down the best, HTTYD was great too. TS3 just finished a wonderful series.

I thought both of those were far better than Toy Story 3.

I liked HTTYD over Despicable Me though.

Seriously hollywood, develop some original ideas.

Jeff Bridges played a different rooster. Sorry to say that it was affected; he knew he was replacing the Duke so to me it was clear that he was crafting his performance to be somewhat different. Halee was much better than Kim Darby and the other actors were better in the major roles; except for Damon. His acting rang wrong as well. John Wayne gave a classic performance; not the best he had ever done(Quiet Man and John Fords Triology were better, to me the Shootist and Searchers were his best) but classic nevertheless. Just looking at them as movies- it may be true that overall the performances were better in the second one; but the movie itself- the Classic was better.

Line up for some more, then. I can kick all day. This version of True Grit was very well done and I enjoyed it more. Yes, I have seen and enjoyed a lot of John Wayne movies but have to give credit where its due. To not see this movie because of that reason is quite dumb.

I've only seen two of those movies.

Guess I need to get out more often or start going to see higher quality movies.

as much as Bridges was trying to be different it seemed like Damon was trying to act just as bad as Glenn Campbell

well I guess you have to have at least one bad performance in any movie.

I've only seen Inception and True Grit so I'm going to go with 127 Hours since I've never heard of the movie. ;)

Yeah...I normally like Damon but that was not his best effort. But as you point out Glenn did not do a great job in the role either. Maybe it is just the character that is weak.

Same with the girls character in both movies. I don't know if they wanted you to like and respect the character but IMO I found them both highly annoying.

I think that is why I always liked Rooster Cogburn better than True Grit for the most part. Hepburn and her character are just better than the snotty young girl role IMO.

John Ford made "Stagecoach" in 1939 with John Wayne in his first starring role as Ringo. That film was remade in 1966 with Alex Cord as Ringo.

I have never seen it. I will never see it. Not even to see Ann Margaret in the role of Dallas.

John Wayne's production company Batjac made a film called "The Alamo" with him in the role of Davy Crocket. It was remade in 2004 with Billy Bob Thornton as Davy Crockett.

I have never seen it. I will never see it.

I don't care who thinks it is dumb. Why should I?

Inception and The Social Network.

Liked Toy Story 3...but not as an Oscar.

Haven't seen others on that list...but I will.

It is a crying shame Hepburn and Wayne only made one movie together. She was stellar as always.

The Kids are Alright got nominations because of what it's about, not becasue it's a great movie.

I thought it was pretty good.

I voted for Winter's Bone and The King's Speech.

Bah. "The Kids are All Right" got tremendous reviews when it came out, as good as or better than many of the other nominees.

I forgot I had seen Social Network also. It was good but I don't think it was worthy.

You would have voted for King's Speech if you had. Mine were Inception and King's Speech.

Kings Speech is going to win. But a good year for nominees...lots of strong films.
