If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?

Wow ...... Bear, Ashwynn, nathanlt, and Cactuscowboy really took his signing hard.

Wonder what they would say today.

I remember justifying his hiring as a Hired Gun ..... a mercenary if you will ..... boy he sure has went beyond that.

barring anything else ...... I will always think of him as a Cowboy.

I didn't want TO but I never went overboard about it. I'm happy to say I was wrong.

Remember the "caption this" thread of TO pointing to the stands? "I see you Nathan" classic:laugh2: Some posters were really upset. I wonder if that is still the case. Nathan? Nathan? anybody ;)

Hey, that is why we all respect you so much because you will admit when a mistake is made.

I was all for T.O. because I felt he would be our best playmaker by far and open up the offense for his team mates.

I hated the fact that he came here because I thought he had the potential to destroy the team environment, however I knew he would have a huge impact on the field. My biggest concern however was that with him in the fold, we wouldn't pick up any young receivers that weren't projects. So I guess I was 2-1. I'll say 2-2 since he is a much better teammate than I ever would have given him credit.

the closest thing I said to not wanting TO here, was saying that I didn't envision Parcells allowing the signing

I quickly hopped on board once it was made, like I am inclined to do :)

I know I had to eat my words on this one. Between getting to know TO better, and him maturing consderably, I have to admit it was a pretty good move.

I just wish I could get back the Cowboys' shirt I sacrificed on his signing.

The Cowboys sold their self respect that day, they sold the dignity of Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, and the symbol of the great Cowboys tradition.

It doesn't matter how you disrespect the Cowboys, if you have talent, come play for us.

Owens is a great talent, and has matured considerably. He has become a good teammate. Owens should have never been welcomed to the Cowboys. If he never would have worn the star, this team would have been better off in terms of dignity.

However, something of the Dallas Cowboys legend and self-respect was lost that day, and the Cowboys will never get that back.

*fart* TO now honors the star and wants to go in the HOF a Dallas Cowboy, and wants to finish his career here

get over it

And with what I said above.... If Bledsoe remained QB and Parcells stayed on.... then I fully expect that Owens would have went off.... we saw glimpses of it. We were losing and making stupid mistakes.

I would not have minded at all if he blew up the team with Bledsoe throwing those INTs and Parcells going with the Vanilla offense.... end result we werent going anywhere anyways...

Man what are you talking about? The Cowboys also have a tradition of winning, and TO has helped put the Cowboys back on the winning path in a tremendous way. He is one of the main reasons we will contend for the Super Bowl this year. Then you go on to say the Cowboys lost self-respect that they would never get back? How so? You just admitted that he has matured and become a good teammate. If anything, that has helped build the Cowboys image as a team that can turn disgruntled players into positive teammates. Owens turnaround played a major role in the Cowboys getting Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones. As of today, both seem to be rededicated and focused to rid themselves of their troubled past. The Cowboys can take joy in giving them that opportunity.
