The perfect night

Where are the fans that said Morris will be starting week 1

Heres what I took from the game

  • This offensive line just keeps getting better and better. We will be able to run if/when we want
  • Good DT play, but DEs didnt play well at all
  • Corners need to tackle better
  • Dak played ok considering Dez was out. Even Romo had problems pushing the ball down the field last year when Dez was out.
  • No way should we re-sign Twill. Draft a WR early
  • Zeke looked way better running behind this line then Demarco ever has.

Imagine how tired that Seattle defense would have been in the 4th quarter against Zeke and that line.

They were looking discouraged at the end of the first quarter. They were getting blown off the ball.

Funny on Chancellor, he was saying it wouldn't have been good for Elliott if it was a regular game. Funny when Chancellor got trucked twice and was the first defensive starter to go off the field. He got punked.

I am agreeing on Terrence Williams. I think we let him walk next year, Butler take his spot and we draft a speed receiver in first few rounds.

Also if this was a regular season game Chancellor would have gotten killed a couple of times when Collins or Martin pulled. Plus he would be blocked by Witten all game. On top of that Zeke and Morris would be hammering him for four quarters and not two.

But for half a preseason game he gets to run his mouth.

Yet he still can't catch a ball thrown right at him.
Claiborne had 5 picks his Jr year and 6 his Sr. year at LSU. He's not a "hands of stone" guy, just needs to consistently stay on the field and build up his rhythm/confidence. Could this be the year he puts it all together? Who knows. He looked good last night, so I'm pulling for him.

Doesn't matter what play it was he got hit on because of the unusual nature of the hit he took. Besides, in the regular reason he would have just missed a few plays or one series and been back in.

My point is, he got HURT. To me it was a tackle, not text book but a tackle and he got hurt. 16 gm schedule that is a lot of plays and a lot of hits.

Our LB play has to pick up. All the LBs not named Sean Lee looked bad last night.

I think we're going to see more of that until our suspended guys return. A lot of defensive quirks will suddenly sort themselves out when all of our starters are on the line.

Only suspended guy coming back for sure is DLaw. He is good but I doubt he'll make every LB play better all of sudden.

Well, we can hope. It's about all us fans can do, right?

Any good DL will help the LB's. It's their job to absorb some of the push and occupy the OL to enable the LBs to make plays. The opposing OL must first respect the DL or they'll play to the 2nd level. I don't think any team fears or respects our DE's at this point and our DT's will have to establish their ground or we'll be seeing a lot of RB's 6-10 yards deep in our secondary.

Our run D has been my greatest concern all along and I did not see us fix that in the off season. We feel our offense is designed for ball control but our defense may be designed for the same thing for the opposition.

First of all it's usually the DTs that protects the LBs from the OL. And as I said, DLaw is a good DE but he alone isn't going to make the whole LB corp play better. Especially with their poor tackling and play recognition.

Romo got hurt on the thrid play..the THIRD play, there should be a level of concern. The is no senario where the coaching staff wanted Romo to get hit and to be laying on the ground in pain, so no the night didn't go as planned. I'm glad he was ready to go back in, but what this tells me is that Dak will be taking snaps this year. The Days of Romo playing 16 game are done, hopefully he only misses minimal games, but, I expect Dak to see significant playing time this year.
And Zeke, Dez, Witten and Beasley, I think, will help nullify the dropoff from Romo to Dez.

Watching him run at his size with the towel flapping he seems the spitting image of Roger Craig to me.
Nice comparison...I don't normally like comparing players, but if you look at his highlights there are definite similarities. Same build, same overall skillset.
