The Philadelphia Eagles...

Memories fade - the Eagles were the best team in the division until last year's injuries. A healthy Eagles team is a dangerous eagles team.

I just hope we don't let them sneak up on us.

I hear ya man and I respect your opinion BUT I just don't think they're that good. Their CB's are suspect, their Dline doesn't get much push, Kearse is waaaaay overrated, they have no running game, and now they can't even rely on TO in the passing game. I just don't see them doing much at all.. We'll see, real soon...

I think your memories of how poor the rest of the NFC, and NFC East in particular, was for several years have faded.
The iggles won a lot of games against teams that simply weren't very good.
I am not saying they are a bad team at this point but too many teams have rebuilt and passed them in terms of talent to consider them the threat they once were.

Completely agree kind of like San Fran late 80s early 90s and the Rams of the mid 90s,even Seattle last season ,conferance cake walks, with no teams to really challenge or expose any weakness they had.Iam not saying they werent talented just never really tested weekly.Anybody could go look up the conferance records and see none of those teams had any challenge.

The Eagles season rests with the Chunky soup kid. If he has decided to become a running and passing threat again, and stops trying to prove to the world he's a pocket passer, the Beagles will be a force. A mobile QB makes bad receivers good in a hurry. I just hope we don't show up in a 34 against the Beagles OL.:(

The belief in the pass only goes to Westbrook. They have no recievers.Y does people think their oline is that good?,they are playing the raiders.

Y is that? First off, you should be in the sports business; if you already aren't. You're missing your calling if you can confidently predict how the first team Eagles are going to place merely from watching them p[lay one-quarter.

You only missed a few things ...

McNabb was able to deliver the ball successfully to his receivers; yes including albeit Westbrook. The 1st team Eagles offense moved the ball all the way down field to a touchdown on the first drive.

Did you notice plays exclusively designed for the ground attack; yes albeit Westbrook. And even though Mahe ran well, he is Only the third string RB ...Moats will be starting along side of Westbrook ...and Buckhalter is about 95% healthy.

You may also have noticed that the Eagles 1st team defense held the Raiders 1st string offense and penetrated their OL on several occasions.

But if you didn't notice anything else, at least you should have known that these type of pre-season games are designed as a filtering system primarily to determine what rookies will make the roster, etc.

You have a gift! I'll be looking closely at your first pre-season game.

All this out of a one-quarter performance from the Eagles 1st team. I'm not feeling your logic mansta54. Sounds laced with bias perspectives and not looking at this rationally.

Fact: birds have no RB capable of 20 carries a game. Westbrook will not last if they try him. Fact: the birds WR corps is at best questionable, at worst pathetic. If anything happens to either Westbrook or mcFlabb your season is over. Neither one is the kind to take a pounding and not get hurt quickly.
Great coaching- nope. GOOD coaching. Great lineplay? nope- good lineplay. D will be better this year, but one of the so called Pro Bowl CB's is also toast.

And oddly enough this could have been said for all of the years they went to go on and have winning seasons PRIOR to TO.

Whether they win or not this year, using your logic, except for injuries, just does not wash because they have proven otherwise in the past.

Who did they have healthy all year besides Westbrook the last few years?
Who did they have at WR the last few years before TO came...can we say Pinkston, Thrash and Mitchell.

If that defense is healthy they will win games.

You've got to be blinded by bias. Listen to yourself ...

Fact: birds have no RB capable of 20 carries a game. Westbrook will not last if they try him. [The Eagles don't need Westbrook to carry 20 times per game ...have you been watching his dual-threat capability. Besides we still have Moats, Mahe, and it looks like Buckhalter is 95% healthy]

Fact: the birds WR corps is at best questionable, at worst pathetic. If anything happens to either Westbrook or mcFlabb (correction: McNabb) your season is over.[the exact same thing could be said about your playmaker WR and Bleedsoe -- what's your Point!

You have not made a viable argument!

eagles first team unit looked smooth and insync last night. that O line was getting good push on running plays, backs were not getting hit until 4-5 yards.

so, its just a preseason game, and i dont know how good or bad the raiders are, and teams dont really game plan with their defense to win in preseason, more to try different things out.....but the eagles O looked anything but rusty last night. have to say if i was a fan id be encouraged that they seemed to run the ball with ease. we'll see what happens when things get more serious.

anyone remember when new england went 0-4 in the 2004 preseason? how did they do that year after?? oh yeah they won the SUPER BOWL...preseason means nothing

Good post Hoov...and a good assessment. We'll see if we look as good in our first drive in pre-season.

Phoenix, take off your homer glasses. YOU do NOT have a RB that has shown he can carry the load- simple as that. Trying to turn it around and point at us is at best prevarication, at worst dodging the truth. You do not have an WR's that scare ANYONE. FACT. IF McFlabb or Westbrook go down you are done- FACT.

A word to the wise.......You better not write any team off in the NFCE...This will go down to the wire.

I doubt the wild card comes from the east.

And what did they win before TO came after they finished beating up on an extremely weak division to get in the playoffs?

Plus that defense is not what it was.

I'm not looking past them nor saying they still aren't a pretty decent team, but they don't have 6 guaranteed wins anymore, and this division is going to be very hard to win without a running game.

gameplan is Brian Westbrook.Period.They will be at the bottom of the East.Mark my words.;)

i tend to agree, barring a move to get a better WR. they just won't have enough weapons, IMO.

three unproven guys... one of whom hasn't even been able to get on the field due to injury.

not saying they can't be decent...but not exactly the foundation for a division winning offense.

Exactly. It isn't beyond the scope of possibility that these 4 teams finish within a game of each other from 1st place through 4th.
