Also doubt they cut Gramatica today. They'd prefer he be healthy before they cut him, but if not they will cut him before season opener so his salary isn't guaranteed. Too bad Gramatica got hurt cause I bet he was one of the players we interested in trading.

It's obvious to me that there are two scenarios being factored.

Either it is one of two players and they haven't decided which one, or it is an injured player and they're trying to determine if they'll offer an injury settlement or not.

Since Grammatica won't kick in the last pre season game and he's injured I suspect he will be the cut tomorrow.

Maybe the have a player for a draft pick trade in the works??

True, but if they make a trade unless it is 2 or 3 for 1 we still need to drop someone.

I think given the fact we dropped 9 instead of 10 means it was a hard decision and they wanted more time. That's why I think it's Grammy.

The only other thing I can think of is that it is someone they may have to put on IR and are waiting for results this morning. The only 2 players that could be are Newman and Ellis. I don't think either of them are IR candidates at this point. I sure hope not anyway.

You know, the pre game injury thing is questionable to me. Once he shanked the PAT, why didn't he alert the staff? Why go ahead and kick off after the botched PAT?

I tried to skim through this thread for duplicates so forgive me if this has already been said.

The roster is currently reduced to 76 with a 75 player limit by today; however, don't we have a roster exemption for Remi Ayodele for playing in the now-defunct NFLE.

Please correct if I'm wrong.

hmmmmm...in most drafts i've been a part of, sane people avoid the D kickers right now. if both got drafted you're in a pretty rookie league, or a league of homers.

i'd love to add folk to my team - AFTER he makes the *real* team. beforehand you're just homering it up and there are better options. unless you're just gaming on your 2nd kicker and don't care.

I'd guess that the last roster spot was waiting on the report from Dr. Andrews concerning Ellis.

If he's fine, the person to be cut is already in the minds of the coaches. If he'll need a little more time, the PUP list is beckoning. If he won't play this season, IR or and injury settlement.

He can't go on the PUP because he participated in one practice. He'd have to go on IR or stay on the roster.

You could be right, but yesterday they reported we'd release one more today. It's a very valid possibility that you are right and the reports were wrong. I hadn't considered this.

that's why i said if you're in a 2 kicker league and this is your 2nd and you're just taking a flyer, that's fine. but in 3 drafts i've had so far no dallas kicker was taken at all. just playing the odds. with a solid front line kicker like you have it's not as big a deal.

but i'd hardly be falling all over myself i got him.

I don't believe the NFLE exemption occurs any longer. If it was the case, Curtis was there also.


I think the only exemption that happens now is for the foreign player who can spend the season on the practice squard.

I'm not so sure about that but won't argue with you if you know for certain. It's my understanding that Ellis still has PUP eligibility up until today.
