The position that really needs an upgrade

The more I think about it, the more I think the position that needs upgrading possibly more than anything other than 1T is backup running back. We really need a stud to back up Zeke in case he gets hurt.

No back on this roster can do anything near what he can do. If Zeke were to go down in game 1, I really think this team is probably a 7 and 9 team. With Zeke it is a contender.

Hopefully, we will be looking to improve this position if an unexpected cut happens and the opportunity arises. I am not satisfied with Bo, or Rod or the other guy. Austin isn't an every down back.

We are thin behind Zeke. That's a problem that could eventually cost us big time if zeke misses any significant time.

The problem is, getting running backs that can do what Zeke does, requires a top 10 pick to get.

So having a backup as good as him, is just not realistic.

I'm fine with Smith. I don't want to cut at another position because we go deep in RB. The way I see it, if Zeek gets injured, there goes the season anyway, and it be best to get a good draft pick than go 8-8 or such and get a mediocre draft pick.

I would list the following positions that may need some strengthening:

1. Safety- Everyone already knows this position needs some help. And if Kevin Frazier’s health issue ends up being serious, we will really need additional help.
2. DT- nuff said.
3. TE- we may have enough here...but we may not. I expect we may pick up someone off the late cut list in early Sept. if our current TEs are not showing enough.

RB? I’m not seeing that as a weak position with Smith and Scarborough but I guess we will see.

Huge worry of mine. As if last year didnt clue them in. Our entire team is geared around the run game. And what did they do backup Zeke? NOthing really. He goes down and our season is over.

RBs aren’t that important as long as they can pass protect.

QB2 might be the huge need nobody is discussing. It’s a huge question mark everybody ignores because Rush looked good in preseason against stock boys and Uber drivers last year.

I was thinking about the 90's and the days of Emmitt, we went often light on running back, and I really don't consider any of the back ups of being worthy replacement back then. So if Zeek is supposed to be great like Emmitt then backup running back shouldn't be the main focus. Until Dak gets to the next level where he proves that he can win without Zeek, we may as well assume if Zeek is out then there goes the season.

So who will you cut to add another running back? Whats wrong with Smith? He's looked nice last year. I thought we were going heavy at receiver for Dak's sake, so that hopefully someone in the group will have chemistry with him. Have the cowboys shown that they can be a playoff team without Zeek? And besides we're not the Eagles.
