The QB Dallas should go get instead of drafting

Most QBs taken are colossal busts. Mettenberger has played well in this league, and he's young, but with Mariotta, he's done in Tennessee.

While that's true, that's not saying much. Only Goff, Wentz and Lynch have any potential to be anything more than career backups. Mettenberger is a marginal starter.

But a franchise QB? A replacement for Tony Romo? Nope.

Get him for a 6th rounder. Sit and learn. Can't be any worse than a QB taken later in this draft. If he doesn't work out, then he doesn't. But I would like him as a back up over Moore.

I wasn't impressed with his play last year.

I was on the Mettenberger to Dallas last year, before Romo got hurt. (think it was you who got it stuck in my head lol)

That being said, I rather draft one, for an eventual replacement for Romo.

Unless Romo gets seriously injured, he'll be here for another 2 years, starting.

In that time, ZM will become a UFA by the end of the 2017 season. So, if Romo retires or is cut for the 2018 season, we'll be roughly in the Broncos scenario, something the Jones's were worried about. Do you give a guy like Mettenberger a huge contract to retain, but have little to work off of, or do you let him walk and you have to start over from scratch.
