I think that is reasonable, getting past the divisional round for the first time in 25 years is progress.
I mean, it's so interesting that there have been bad teams that miss the playoffs and then have one incredible run (Jags 2017) and then we for some reason are stuck barely missing the playoffs or only making it to be one and done.

This team had better be mentally tough if they hope to advance in the playoffs.
They have enough talent (especially on offense) to compete with anybody, but are they capable of playing sharp, focused ball, and grinding out wins?
IMO, anything less than a trip to the NFC championship game is a bust.

Both teams are talented defensively. This game is going to be which QB plays better and makes plays in big moments.

Are the Cowboys TOUGH ENOUGH to kill the 25 yr old monkey on their backs?

The playoffs are completely different than regular season games. Teams that advance have to be made of a toughness that transcends talent. The most talented teams don’t always win. The toughest teams do.

The Cowboys are 12-5. One of the 6 best teams in the NFL. They have enough talent and coaching to win Sunday and beyond. Since game 1 against Tampa, they have proved in the regular season if they bring their best game, they can play with anyone.

The question for the Cowboys is simple- will they be able to be mentally and physically tough enough to grind out some playoff wins? This team has the chance.

A quarter century of playoff underachievement is the monkey on this team’s back. Talk is cheap. Respect is earned in the playoffs. Winning playoff games (plural) will kill the monkey. It’s going to take a toughness this team hasn’t shown in the playoffs in a quarter century.

The toughest teams win in the playoffs. Just do it!
Defense will determine how far we go

Yawn..........Obviously. But to me the defense needs to be the difference maker.

……the fact that it’s Jimmy G, should give them a good chance since they aren’t facing Rodgers, Brady or Murray……can the the offense deal with the niners front 4 that gets pressure without blitzing?…..time will tell

Stop the run, be aggressive in the pass game on offense, get a lead.

Thats the formula. DO NOT come out hoping to pound the ball with Zeke. We can try that after we have a nice lead. Pass defense is their weakness.

We have a bit of that country club atmosphere that doesn't lead to Goliath type performances, but I'm going to reserve judgement on Big Mike because I believe he is a pretty tough cookie and has made our team better.

Jason Garrett glided across the company line, made no waves and did his best impersonation of Zig Ziglar (look him up) but he was a fraud, the team was only motivated by it's own talents.. This team is different, but how different? We shall see, but I have no expectations..
Big Mike is a tough cookie AND he eats a lot of cookies, so that's a pretty good combo.

They used to say the same thing about the early Cowboys coached by Tom Landry.

Chokers......"Can't win the Big One"......Next year's champions.....

They consistently broke the hearts of their fans.

They lost back to back NFL championships on the last play of the game....to the Packers. Winning those two championships entitled the Packers to play the AFL champion in Super Bowls 1 and 2.

Then the Cowboys played in the first post-merger Super Bowl 5 and lost to the Colts on a last second FG due to a turnover by the Cowboys deep ion their own territory.

The following year, they had enough. You could tell the Cowboys were not going to be denied, particularly on defense. They beat the Dolphins in Super Bowl 6 and the score was 24-3 against an offense so prolific that the next season the Dolphins went undefeated throughout the regular season and the playoffs.

So one of the questions is, has this current team had enough of the disrespect and ridicule? How do guys like Parsons, Gregory, and D-Law feel about being called "soft". Do Tyron, Martin and Collins agree with this label?

We will see in four days.
