There were actual "attendants" at a gas station.

You wore waffle stompers.

Bell bottom cordouroy pants that made you sound like a one man band on a windy day.

Your first ride on a Crazy Wheel made you puke.

You could go to the State Fair and get in and ride everything for $7.00.

You could camp anywhere.

Ten million of us used to trick-or-treat in our neighborhoods.

Your dad stuffing raw meat in your back pack for those deep woods hiking trips. In case you get hungry he said...............

Life in general was much slower and we took in more, cared more, got more, shared more, laughed more, smiled more, said hello more, talked with each other more, spent time with family more. There was a lot MORE back then.

Being excited about spending the night a Grandpa's.

Fly fishing with your brother and no one else was around.

Celebrating the 4th with your own stash of fireworks and they were legal.

Remember when...

"Jarts" or lawn darts were still available. Nothing says "family reunion" like the high probability of seriously impaling someone.

You first tried chewing tobacco or snuff and everyone laughed as you vomited everywhere.

10 kids piling into one vehicle to go get ice cream after little league was legal.

Drive in's were everywhere but you had to stay in the car to watch the movie due to the speaker you had to hang in the window.

Remember when...

No kids wore Helmets or knee pads when riding bicyles.

No kids had car seats.

When most larger cars had the flip up/down middle part in the front seats that most kids sat on.

When K-Tel used to put out the 8-tracks and Records with all of the top hits of the day.

Remember TSR-80 or the vic20 computers where you would type in a program all day only to play a game that was no better than pong.

Getting candy with the little armymen and the parachute that normally only worked ok once.

Remember the first TV you got that the channel indicator was digital instead of a turning dial.

When nickeloden (sp?) first started they were so hard up for programs that they would actually show pages from a comic book (enlarged) and have someone reading the parts.

The LOOOOONG gas lines for a short time in the 70's.

When aluminum cans had the pull off tabs instead of the flip tabs.

The electric Company, 321 contact, Zoom, Mr Wizard and You can't do that on television with the slime.

we'd have science experiements in jr high dropping an egg 10+ feet and making something lightweight that would keep it from breaking.

This thread is perfect for me ... I spend most of my life looking backwards and clinging to nostalgia. But I do know that some things change for the better.
