The answer why we are not creating turnovers is so simple. We had 31 turnovers last year on defense. Let's look who had them......

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/dal/2014.htm

Bruce Carter 5 INts
Orlando Scandrick 2 ints 2 FF
Justin Durant 1 int 1 FR 2 FF
Sterling Moore 2 FR 1 FF
George Selvie 1 FR 1 FF
Dwayne Harris 1 FR
Anthony Spencer 1 FR 2 FF
C.J. Spillman 1 FR 1 FF
Henry Melton 2 FR
Keith Smith 1 FF
Terrell McClain 1 FF

FF=Forced fumble
FR=Fumbles recovered
INT=interception

17 of the 31 turnovers are from guys that are no longer here......

We are on pace for 8 this season.....Do the math

The guys that were creating all those turnovers are no longer part of the organization....:banghead:

Now look @ this year......

Sean Lee 1 INT
J.J. Wilcox 1 INT
Greg Hardy 1 INT 1 FF
Nick Hayden 1 FR

And that's it...........4 turnovers:omg:

HOw many INTs does Bruce Carter have in Tampa?

As of today he has

5 tackles......

1 assisted tackle

1 pass defended

And he is buried 2nd string on Tampa's depth chart @ middle LBer.....

All that being said......I think we still miss him. Sometimes a guy is in the right place @ the right time. And sometimes your not.;)

Even though Bruce was inconsistent...he still provided big plays.

There needs to be a lot of different players on defense next season!

This is a great example of how to to spin an answer. :laugh:

The answer is Bruce Carter has 0 interceptions and he's not even seeing the field much. The guy has 5 tackles all year.

No, it's more of an indictment of the team in general. Letting Carter go was the obvious choice, but man, when Greg Hardy is tied for the team lead in interceptions, something is terribly wrong.

I don't think anyone disagrees with you.

The problem wasn't getting rid of Bruce Carter, the problem was trusting your LB core in a china doll and psychopath. Both have done what they've done their entire careers yet we're somehow shocked by it.

Floaty is on to something though. Of course there is interplay with the offense being a turd and the defense not able to pin back their ears all the time, but the personnel is really not that great and many have declined.

Brandon carr is missing from the stat sheet for 2 years and counting. McClain is just abysmal this year, but somehow we moved to a 4-2-5 to feature him on most snaps now that he is back. I'm not overly concerned with how lovie is plaYing or not playing him, Carter had speed - which McClain has none.

Church and Wilcox remain the 2 worst starting safeties in the league - and it's not really close

Damien Wilson needs to see the field more.

Agree....I wouldn't have brought McClain or Lee back. Thought the writing was on the wall ...clear as day when McClain quit in the Green Bay playoff game. As for Lee...we should have known after the ACL tear.....his body was breaking down. I still would have liked to have seen Carter comeback though...but I wouldn't have paid what Tampa paid either.

What percent of time are we playing man defense this year versus last year? I would expect that as man coverage increases, turnovers decrease.

2 proven playmakers on defense - Hardy and Lee (never healthy).

OP is 100% correct

We've been saying that since Campo's 3rd stop here.

It's sickening I see other teams play much more aggressive with less talent at CB. It's like this DB coach has our guys playing off . Then he screws around after something works. Corey white was doing great in the slot with Jones going against the TE . Then this week Corey white was inactive ? Just a total screw up

Good stuff. Imo the problem is not so much the lack of turnovers but the way that our D turns to swiss cheese in crunch time. We don't get the stops when we absolutely need them.
