When B W Webb has more interceptions than your entire secondary combined, it hasn't been a good year.

When half of your defensive line is from Boise St. you are not going to create enough pressure to force turnovers.

Good stuff. Imo the problem is not so much the lack of turnovers but the way that our D turns to swiss cheese in crunch time. We don't get the stops when we absolutely need them.

Both are a problem. If we end up w/ 8 turnovers for the season....I think that sets a new NFL record by a lot. Think of it this way.....we had 9 created turnovers vs Buffalo in Super Bowl XXVII.

But you are right.....in that Seattle game...giving up a 17 play drive for the winning FG is just unforgivable. Defense has blown 3 games....New Orleans.. Seattle and now Philly.:banghead:

As of today he has

5 tackles......

1 assisted tackle

1 pass defended

And he is buried 2nd string on Tampa's depth chart @ middle LBer.....

All that being said......I think we still miss him. Sometimes a guy is in the right place @ the right time. And sometimes your not.;)

Even though Bruce was inconsistent...he still provided big plays.

Problem is the price that Tampa gave him.

We could use him because Hitchens and Lee are hurt and McClain has been awful. But, he was terribly inconsistent in his time here and that inconsistency wasn't worth what Tampa is paying him.

Maybe the cut him at the end of the season and we can pick him up again, cheap.

Not sure I buy that it's specifically the guys we've lost that have been the problem, but I do think the play of our LB unit in pass defense overall has regressed this year. We saw in the first PHI game Lee make some outstanding plays, but R. McClain has not been good, and Hitchens has been on the bench more this year. Carter wasn't a great player, but he did have a knack for taking balls away in underneath coverage, and we're not seeing a lot of that. Maybe, too, this is a place where the not playing with a lead more often is coming back to bite us as we're running a lot of press on the outside and teams are able to run the ball and not having to pass underneath as much because a, our running defense has not been good and b, they're not needing to score points, so they don't have to take those later-game shots at the underneath coverage.

Who knows. It's pissing me off, though.

This might be a contributor to the TOs, but not the real reason.

Sturm just went over this on his show earlier. The real reason is last year we had a 4 point lead for the majority of the snaps played. That leads to teams taking more chances. This year we have trailed in the majority of games and teams are not taking chances. Go back to the first Philly when we had 3, and it's a perfect example of a team playing from behind and taking chances.

Ok...I'll spin it this way.....look @ the guys that were here last year.....and their stats

Anthony Hitchens 16/11 starts....1 INT 0 FF 0 FR
Rolando McClain 13/12 starts....2INTs 1 FF 0FR

You don't think that's not carrying over from 2014? Sometimes players are who they are....and stats can prove it.

Another indictment on this team's pathetic offseason.

Pathetic? We're only losing because of Romo being hurt. This off season/season, we gained or drafted:

Greg Hardy, La'el Collins, Darren McFadden, Randy Gregory, Byron Jones, David Irving and a bunch of guys like Damien Wilson and Chaz Green that will help us down the road. Most off seasons are complete failures compared to the amount of players we gained that are actual play makers

We were called crazy in the off season when we were complaining about letting so many guys go.

Remember? Anyone can run behind this line. Our LBs will be great with Ro and Lee and Hitch. We'll have a ton of INTs with the pressure from Mincey, Crawford, and t-Law. ????? Yep,our off season moves and the genius front office is working out great isn't it?

How much further down the road we need to go???

LOL.....we replaced all of those guys with superior players. That's still not an excuse for lack of turnovers.

When Green gets healthy and Wilson gets more acclimated. Probably next year. Not all draft picks play immediately. With Lucky taking over return duties, I don't think I've seen this many rookies playing important roles since the 08 draft (scandrick/felix/tashard/jenkins/Bennett/etc)

The problem wasn't getting rid of Bruce Carter, the problem was trusting your LB core in a china doll and psychopath. Both have done what they've done their entire careers yet we're somehow shocked by it.

Excellent post.

We've had leads in every single game except NE

You can't sign guys like Murray, Carter, Durant and Harris (biggest loss imo) and expect to sign guys like Hardy and resign the offensive line when they come up. There is a cap remember. And why wouldn't the FO let Carter and Durant go with how Hitchens played on a cheap rookie contract?

Can't sign everyone people. If there was no cap all these guys would still be here. Jerrah as loyal as they come.
