The refs' "missed" fumble on Schultz changed the entire complexion of the game

It seem like Shultz always seems to get stripped from behind. Carolina and Cincinnati come to mind. Shultz has to correct this.

He can do it for his next team. Hendershot would have thrown that ball stripper to the sideline and got 8 more yards.

I saw the way he was carrying that football and knew he was going to fumble.

Schultz is a penalty or a turnover waiting to happen. Schultz is a loser.

Even after he's had multiple fumbles, multiple false starts in the red zone, and multiple holds, he continues to do it. I can't wait until he carries his sorry *** to another team.

Since people here like to contend that they just want a fairly called game I'm shocked that this play hasn't been talked about. With Indy already up 3-0 and the Cowboys driving for what would be their first score, Schultz clearly fumbles this ball that the refs, who you all say swallow their whistles, immediately blow a play dead that was a fumble and Indy had pounced on. @Blackrain told me to be vigilant about what the refs might be up to in this game and will you look at this? An egregious benefit to Dallas who were trailing and about to go down 10-0 if this had stood. With the Cowboys as notorious slow starters, pass-happy Moore probably would have abandoned the run and Air (Pick City) Prescott would have been front and center in the offense. This obvious intentional blown call kept that from happening. Matthew Stafford said it best about AT&T Stadium: "Home cookin'!"

he didn't clearly fumble. his knee was down and the ball still in his possession. a fumble is when you are no longer in possession of the ball, not when its in the act of losing it....you are thinking about when the ball was out. while his knee hits the ground the ball is still in his hand, yes the defender is pulling, but the ball is not totally out. thus per NFL rules, its not a fumble at that point. given that there would be a chance for the player to retain the ball. also, don't forget that he got the ball back....so what's your point?

so no, it wasn't a fumble. it wasn't intentially blown. it wasn't a conspiracy.

now go root for your New York Giants.

@guag and myself were very concerned in last nights game thread that the officials were going to review and reverse the call 5 to 10 plays later, even after the CD TD... lol

Here is the photo of the ball out. Schultz barely has one hand on the ball with the Colts player pouncing on it with 2 hands. The Colts player let go once the ref right there immediately blew his whistle vehemently saying Schultz was down. He clearly wasn't. Egregious non-call.

nice photo. it clearly shows that he was down way before the ball came out...in your original Gif it showed the ball wasn't out of his hands when his knee and elbow hit the ground.

try something else.

Looks like a fumble to me. Looks like he was losing possession as the knee and forearm hit the ground. The only clear recovery I saw though was with Schultz though which makes it a non factor anyways. Show me a clear recovery by Indy and I'll change my tune on the subject.
he was losing possession isn't lost possession.... there is a huge difference.

and yes, its a non factor, conspiracy theory not withstanding.

The play was definitely a fumble and the defender and Schultz both ended up getting both hands on the loose ball. However, the defender fell away from the ball while Schultz pulled it into his body and clearly recovered it. Not sure what part of that you don't understand? The defender never showed possession of the football. If you can post a video showing the defender on top of the ball with his arms wrapped around the ball then we can debate it further.

I love how people in here routinely pick out one play and claim it completely changed a 40 point game

hahahahaha. Yes. That fumble - which Dallas recovered , if it was even a fumble, was worth 50 points for the colts.

great thread.
