The Roy Williams play, and other thoughts...

So Rack now officially can read Roy's mind and tell that Roy made the decision based off of Zimmer's teaching....as opposed to Roy's own free will in playing the play like he did.

Good call - we are a read react defense - that always comes back to bite you...

The Jets beat the PAts today in NE b/c they attacked the hell outta Brady....blitz blitz blitz...

I think we are going to see a different defense in there against the Colts. The only way to beat Manning is to harrass him. With our offense proving they can put a diverse attack on the opponent we will get more aggressive on defense.

Also with the Colts being so susceptible to the run we can control this game. Our pass coverage will really have to stabilize though. It was nice to see Watkins getting in on some plays and making good on a deflected interception.

It's called an opinion, Chico. Don't like it? Go back to the Ranch.

I am just jealous and in awe of your mind reading abilities.

Aparantly you are ignorant and don't know the meaning of the word "opinion" so here's some good reading for you...

JuJo seems to be running tentatively again. Earlier in the year he was patient in waiting for the hole to open up, but when it was there he would explode through it. He's not exploding anymore.

I thought just the opposite. Several times, he tried to explode through the hole, but it would quickly disappear.

I agree Adam.. there were several plays where he was still pumping his legs hard even after contact. One play in particular he got hit by like 3 guys (not all at once) and kept spinning and fighting for more yards.

I dunno, he might have "tried hard" running into piles, but there were some plays where he had a hole and didn't "hit it" like he did earlier in the year.

Don't know if he's hurt or what, but he's not running like he did the first 1/4 of the season. He left yards on the field today.

Witten is great at getting open, but he couldn't make a light pole miss in the open field.

Witten had a great game, but I'm really getting sick of him trying to fake people out in the open field and end up a yard or two short of the first down! He needs to just get that big body moving and keep it moving. When he runs East-West he gives his advantage away.

Well.. Bill Parcells has been bragging on how he is more patient now than he used to be in waiting for the play to develop. Since you're blaming Zimmer for Roy I guess you could blame Parcells for how you disagree with how he's running.

Such as ... when?

I remember one play that looked like it might have gotten more yards, but that's it.

Lets face it.
He isn't a great RB.
He has had a good season and is solid.
Although I am disappointed he hasn't had 2-3 huge games like he did his rookie season or against Carolina.

I didn't say anything about his patience.

Earlier in the year he was patient (as he is now) but when the hole did open up, he was shooting through it like a mad man. Now he's been patient, but when the hole opens up he's not "bursting" through it like he did earlier in the year.

I know what play you're talking about. That was the obvious one. Looked like he was about to break a big one, but only got 3 yards. That's a good example of what I'm talking about, but the other plays weren't as "obvious" as that one.

It's not something he IS doing, it's something he ISN'T doing. He's being patient just fine, but he isn't exploding through the holes like he did earlier in the year. He's not dancing in the hole or anything, just not hitting it as aggressively as he did earlier in the year. Maybe that injury he suffered last week (or was it 2 weeks ago) is hindering him a little?

I was pleased with Owens today - did you see his celebration after his TD?

There WASN'T one..and no sidelines "action", and no guff to Tony (that we saw) because he only had 2 receptions and fewer than 20 yards in the first half. He may even realize how much heat Terry has been taking off him all year...first half he was doubled a lot.

Owens looked today like he 'got it'.

That's REAL good news.

A couple of drops doesn't bother me...not one whit, IF he plays like the team player he played like today.

Who cares..... Just becasue T.O doesnt dance does that mean "he gets it"? And just because you want him to "get it" , does he care... Um no. Does BP care. Doubt it. If you have to comment on what T.O does after the TD, you must be like ESPN. Wanting to make a story if T.O takes a 15 minute dump.

When you score over 100 Td's its hard to be original...

That play where Roy gave up the TD run to Leinart is EXACTLY why we need to GROZ. He's got the players more worried about technique and NOT giving up plays that they don't MAKE plays themselves.

The rookie Roy wouldn't of hesitated like today's Roy did. The rookie Roy would of come up and knocked Leinart's block off.

Mike Zimmer... turning good players into average players since 2000.

Also..

If the injury is as serious as I think it is, Greg Ellis' career is over. He's too old to come back 100% from an achilles tear. He'll never be the same pass rusher again. As it is, he was only solid in that area anyway (although he was having a monster game today). Sucks, but that's pro football sometimes.

Anyone else getting tired of TO dropping passes? A long TD doesn't erase all the drops.

Romo... nuff said.

(watching the Saints game)... Copper just lost the game for the Saints.

MBIII is the real deal.

Glad to see Keylon Kincade get some carries. He's not real gifted physically, but he has great vision.

Anyone else notice our pass rush completely disappear (almost) after Ellis got hurt? Ware needs to learn to get pressure on the QB CONSISTENTLY. With Zimmer around, I don't know if that'll happen.

Jason Hatcher needs to quit dancing and get after the QB. He doesn't attack, he stands up out of his stance and puts some weak arse moves on the OL and gets nowhere. Use that size/speed ratio and ATTACK the freakin' QB!

Time to find out if Carpenter can play.

Have you ever seen the skit titled "Debby Downer" on Saturday Night Live?

yea thats you.............

I don't like the way we are using Roy either.

I don't care if we use him as a lb in long yardage situations or not.

Who gives a dang, if we use him as a lb some and a safety some. So what???

If it helps the team it helps the team.

Coaches and fans get caught up to much in categorizing these players instead of letting them make plays in doing what they do best.

Roy is like that. Let the man's athletic ability and great football instincts do what he does best...sniffing around the line of scrimmage and lighting people up!

This team can't afford to play with a 3 man secondary just so Roy can pad his stats. If Roy can't play against the pass, just convert him to LB and get it over with.

Right now some fans want Roy to be a safety who doesn't have to cover and a linebacker who doesn't have to take on blockers. In other words, all the other 10 players on the defense have to do grunt work to make Roy look good. What exactly is he responsible for?

There's a huge myth flying around the Roy can't cover... what people need to understand that thus far this season, big name FREE SAFETIES are WORSE in coverage than Roy is... guys like Ed Reed and Sean Taylor.

This myth was generated in the offseason people don't even care to compare him to other safeties around the league. That's not the strongest part of his game.. but its not even close to being a LIABILITY to our defense like some fans and THE MEDIA like to say.
