Roy did not have a good game IMO. He missed some things but I'm not going to hang all this on Roy. Anybody who has been on this board for any amount of time knows what I think about Roy.
My problem was the play of the DBs in general. Really, CBs. We played way too far off all the receivers last night. You can't give 10 yards to Pro WRs. That's just asking to get your but kicked. More importantly, we gave up the inside release way too easy all night IMO. Burress and Toomer are both bigger WRs. They use there bodies well to gain position and then kill you on inside releases with the slant. You influence the safety short or to the outside and cut in behind him. That happened too many times last night. Our DBs just can't allow that to happen. They have to bump them off that route or we are going to get tourched on the post all year. We have to get better at this. You never give up the middle of the field to a big slow WR. Make him beat you to the outside, use the sideline and get your safety over to help you deep. You just can't give up that inside release like that. Puts your safety in too touch a position and as a CB, you have no chance.
