Based on the rumors I've read for teams picking 1-17, it looks like we have a very good shot of having a choice of Chance Warmack or Sheldon Richardson as well as several others like Werner, Cooper, Vaccaro, etc.

link is from walterfootball which i know all of you are familiar with, but if you just read all of the rumors, the others teams needs are all over the place so the odds of Cooper, Warmack, Richardson, all being gone seem pretty slim.

Of course i realize rumors aren't worth spit, but we're 3 days away and i'm reaching for anything at this point lol

Just my opinion, but there's almost no chance of Warmack or Cooper being there for us at 18, but I really think Sheldon Richardson will fall to us.

Sheldon Richardson will be a Cowboy. Write it down!

While I don't think it's a given, I refuse to believe there is a greater than 50% that 2 guards go between 1 and 17.

I think Cooper is gone by 18 because of Versatility and overall dynamic ability.

Warmack is going to be there. Just have a feeling.

I've heard Arizona may take Warmack over Lane Johnson.

that's almost as ridiculous as us taking a TE with the 18th pick

Someone ahead of us will reach on a player, and someone very talented wil fall to us. That's about the closest you can get to a guarantee.

The highest a guard has been drafted in the last decade is #17, so it's not very realistic to say that is is all but certain that two will be drafted by then.

I actually think it will be the opposite, with the odds at either of the guards being there and almost no chance Richardson will be there. However, I hope it works out your way because Richardson would be my favorite realistic pick for #18

I agree, that would be nuts though.
Lane Johnson could end up being the best player in the draft before all is said and done. His ceiling is enormous and he's already very good. In fact, the entire Senior Bowl week against college all-stars, he did not give up one sack or even anything close to a sack. Impressive.

When you have so many holes that need to be filled, there are going to be lots of options, even at 18

This is a very rare draft that lacks playmakers at QB, RB, TE and WR. History doesn't matter IMO.

Richardson in the 1st, Schwenke in the 3rd!

I really like Lane Johnson also. Tons of upside! Kind of like Doug Free on steroids!

I think the big criticism of him is that he might not play strong enough for the NFL level due to being built like a basketball player (narrow hips etc)

The 2008 draft had 1 QB drafted in the first 17 picks, 1 RB, 0 TE's, and 1 WR. I agree that it isn't a "sexy" draft in terms of skill positions but it isn't a historical one as far as those go.

Does that mean the turnstile just spins faster? :D

Using Doug Free for any comparison other than a negative one is ill advised.

I don't see us trading up in the first. Someone will be there at 18 that we are targeting. Personally I believe Cooper, Richardson or Sly Williams will be the pick. I feel Warmack will be gone. And I have a feeling that we will be passing on Vaccaro if available.
Cooper/Richardson/Sly in the first.
Safety in the 2nd (or G/C if Sly or Richarson was in the first).
Le'veon Bell in the 3rd (or WR if Bell is gone).

I am so excited for the draft.
