I would take Richardson at #18 who should still be there IMO.

However, Kawann Short at #47 would be a good pickup as well.

1: cooper
2: short
3: swearinger/thomas

those are 3 rounds i could get behind

Just my opinion, but there's almost no chance of Warmack or Cooper being there for us at 18, but I really think Sheldon Richardson will fall to us.

Sheldon Richardson will be a Cowboy. Write it down!

That's been my gut feeling all along too, but who knows?

I would rank Warmack over Lane Johnson.

Understandably minority opinion here, but Warmack is a much bigger, stronger guy.

Johnson was a QB 3 years ago. That is scary in a top 15 pick.

I would rate Johnson as a less athletic version of Tryon Smith. I'd still like him but I think he is a 12-18 area guy, not top 10.

If I draft Warmack I plug him in at RG and run up his butt every time I need a few sure yards. I feel 100% confident he can do that day 1. He also moves much more effectively than given credit for at his size and can do the ole Gibbs trap plays easily. This guy is a Hog. He'd be that kind of guy. Good balance and great strength. Not the best change of direction or first step but he knows the play and gets off on the ball on running plays very well.

While I believe Cooper had Hall of Fame ceiling if I had the pick of thr two I take Warmack because I trust 100% he'll do good things and give me an offensive identity and weapon with my run game day 1.

I would take Cooper over DeCastro or Zeitler of last year. Would definitely take him over Warmack this year. JMO

I think the Chiefs would be best served drafting defense over OT, but that's just my opinion. They probably wish they weren't drafting #1 or that they had a surefire QB available to them.

Josh Norris's Mocks can be a little all over but I respect him for trying to build in trade scenarios and not being lazy.

Has us passing on Cooper for Richardson

18. Dallas - DT Sheldon Richardson, Missouri

In moving to a four man front, the Cowboys lack a true 3 technique defensive tackle whose main job is to penetrate. Richardson’s is very athletic for his size and can shoot gaps off the snap or run the line to chase.

Why would all of the other team pass on drafting Richardson?

Is there really much if any difference between the talent of Richardson and Floyd?

richardson and floyd are very different players.

floyd is bigger with a more consistent motor and more in-line strength.

richardson is more explosive and plays faster but wears down some and may not be as good in-line.

floyd can probably step in aplay for 32 different teams day 1.

richardson is a sure-fire pass rusher who may need to work to be a 3 down player.

I know you weren't asking me... but we simply don't know what going to go down.

I read today that Carolina, who you see Richardson mocked to more than anyone else, isn't really enamored with Richardson and probably won't take him.

Could be smoke and mirrors, or it could be true. Who Knows? The point is, if just one or two teams from 10 to 17 decide to go in a different direction than DT, Richardson could fall to 18, and it might not even have anything to do with his few "character" issues.

If I had to guess, I'd say he's probably going to be gone before 18, but really, we just don't know.

Nothing makes sense about the mocks.

I certainly don't claim to be an expert, but since when does the whole league clamor for guards? Since when do desperate teams not reach for quarterbacks? (Locker, Ponder, Gabbert, Clausen, Freeman, etc) Since when do teams let corners and pass rushers slide in favor of safeties?

This is either a strange draft, or every team thinks they're about to bamboozle the rest of the league.

It's just hard for me to imagine that three tackles and two guards are going to go in the top 17 picks without a quarterback, receiver, or running back taken.

Its hard to get a grasp of the Chiefs because they actually have pretty good skill players at skilled positions. They have Dwayne Bowe at receiver, Eric Berry and Brandon Flowers in their secondary, Hali at linebacker.....it would seem like the for sure move would be to help that offensive lince that offensive line got their qb's killed last season.

After reading the cowboys rumors, I can say with close to 100% certainty that there is little to no credibility to any of these..

The draft is a crapshoot-nothing else to it

The Chiefs will have a much better record this year. They may even contend for a playoff spot.

I'd be so worried about turning Floyd into Glen Dorsey in a 2 gap scheme. Short arms on a 6-2 guy does not sound like a great 5 technique. I think he needs to play as a 1 gap guy.

4 tackles (the lowest ranked a RT) and 2 guards.

If 6 offensive linemen go in the top 17 picks, there will be some exciting defensive players left.

The highest a guard has been drafted in the last decade is #17, so it's not very realistic to say that is is all but certain that two will be drafted by then.

I'd be content :D

There seems to be a lot of buzz about Flucker going in the 10-11 range, and possibly going before Warmack.
