The scouting report on Taco is much different than what many people are claiming

What's intriguing to me about this kid is his weight. He is 270 and looks like a skinny basketball player. His frame can put on a lot of muscle still. Also the fact that he played a lot of last season with a high ankle injury and still had 10 sacks. Plenty of raw talent there imo.

That sounds about right, although I've seen pics of him about a month ago that looked much more impressive than recent ones. Evidently, he's lost weight. Maybe he's trying to get more quickness into his repertoire. Anyhow, his trainers and the staff will be monitoring him to see exactly what's needed to improve his strength and/or conditioning on an ongoing basis. Here's hoping they succeed in putting some muscle back on him that he seems to have lost.

If this is the case, I would rather see Charlton bulk up and be either a Greg Ellis-type; run stuffing left end or maybe even a pass rushing DT. If he's lost this much muscle trying to lose weight than he's not going to be the pass rushing right end we want him to be.

I'm hoping the pics I saw recently simply weren't flattering more than anything else. The trainers and conditioners will know what he needs to get back on track, though. Maybe the daily grind is wearing him down. Hopefully, he'll get his weight back in the form of solid muscle and less bulk? Guess we'll just have to wait and see if he progresses well enough in his conditioning for it to help him out strength-wise and on the field also.

In what I've watched, he's looked really good. He's just going against Fredbeard, Martin, and Tyron.

The FWST just posted this about Taco from today's late afternoon practice:

Defensive end Taco Charlton, the Cowboys’ first-round draft choice from Michigan, easily got by offensive tackle Chaz Green in a drill, and followed it up with a win over guard La’el Collins. Collins also lost on a consecutive plays to defensive end Tyrone Crawford. Crawford beat him with a spin move and they repeated the drill with the same result. The Cowboys have to hope it’s a sign that Charlton and Crawford can bolster what has been a lackluster pass rush in recent years.

Now it's time for the Green and Collins suck threads.
