Actually, there are some positives. It is looking like they are improved on the oline and at linebacker. If the oline can stay healthy for most of the year, I suspect that they will win the division again and be a contender.

They have enough talent, assuming no catastrophic injuries, to make a playoff run. But it likely will end, like it has in the past, there. The team from last year was good but not good enough and the Jones did literally nothing other than make their draft picks and sign an old LB to try to make the team better (while watching some talent run off to other teams). They have JAGs at RB, they aren't all that good at DT, they are now thin at DE, WR is kind of a question behind Lamb, etc.

It really does feel as if there’s no real plan or direction as far as how to put a winner in the field.

They released a written statement claiming they are “close,” which implies that you aren’t good enough, then proceed to do next to nothing to get any better.

Why would fans…or even players for that matter…be excited/encouraged/pumped about anything with the example this leadership sets?

The way this team is run is absolutely criminal and it’s actually nice to see that people appear to be realizing it.

Having said that - there are some good things going on... McClay is a draft master who seems to deliver, overall, good results. In turn, players are decent, in spite of the hillbilly's incompetence in 2 out of 3 channels for player aquisition.
