Then you are switching teams I assume. I'll never erase my Cowboys tattoo. My love for the team is deeper than a terrible owner, entitled and overpaid mediocre players. Is it hard to be a fan these days? Absolutely. Do I have ANY hope this year or for the near future? No. But my fandom is bigger than this current toxic organization. I can only hope I outlive it and see a new dawn. I'm not optimistic though.
Anyone who removes their Cowboys tattoo because of not reaching the SB needs to check their fair weather fandom.

Not switching teams, just not going to rep them in public anymore, that time has expired.

Already sold almost all of my season tickets. I'll watch, but nothing like usual.
I'm surprised you were able to sell them. A friend of mine has 10 season tickets to both Cowboys and Texan games. Great seats...he's almost sold out of the Texans, but still has over half of the Cowboys.

You've been writing this same thread weekly for years and have been a season-ticket holder the entire time?

The foul stench of the worse loss in Cowboys history has not worn off a bit. January's emasculation at the hands of the fledging Packers took a toll not seen around here before. Green Bay had no prospects as the proverbial sacrificial lamb, but instead left with all the women and fine china, laughing their way home after slapping Cowboys' manhood around for three epically long hours.

There's now no pretending left to do. This season feels like an arranged marriage to the fat girl.

Sure, it's sports, and lightning in a bottle and any given Sunday and all of that. But far too many seasons of kerplunk after kersplat have rusted away the spirit of the most ardent of optimists surrounding this rented mule. There's zero anticipation outside of just guessing how the car crash will happen in 2024.

Camp is lifeless with few spectators. The coach is a lame duck. The depth is gone. The quarterback is begging for more money. The owner looks cryptic and delusional. The star players are barking and holding out. This is a dumpster full of gasoline waiting for a spark. This ain't the formula, and everybody knows.

Our hillbilly brass clearly knows and doesn't care because the coffers are full and the tickets are bought. They certainly don't believe in their roster because they sat the offseason out entirely, even more than usual. Didn't sign anyone and let most of what they had go. They've accepted their fate and hunkered down, knowing there are gonna be a lotta road games at home as season ticket holders are flooding their tickets into the after-market.

Never have I seen it this depressing. The ending is already written. Even during the Campo years and that long stretch of Quincy/Henson/Chutch nonsense we suffered through was more intriguing than this. Probably because meaningful winning wasn't so long ago back then.

Can they win some games? Perhaps, because this is the NFL of today, and most teams are pretty bad. Can they make the playoffs? Not likely, but maybe because it's just a shoddy league. But beyond that, there's nothing.

This feels like a 7-10 team with nothing to look forward to. And that's a bad place to be.
I enjoyed the descriptions and can't really disagree except that I'm feeling some strange optimism because of the newly acquired talent on the OL and LBs,,, if they can deliver a running game and Zimm can deliver a stingy defense then we might have something. :flagwave:.

It's shaping up to be the best off season in 20 years.
The fog will continue to clear, Mike will be fired early, Dak will be benched or gone, 6-11 record, we'll end up with a top 10 pick.
Next trade Parsons before deadline as he and Zimmer will have a blowout ( seems sweet now, but watch).
We'll have multiple high picks and the skies the limit.
So cheer up everyone!
I can't believe I'm saying this but that scenario wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen. At this point we're all tired of "almost good enough". If hitting rock bottom turns things around, let it come.

The only thing that gives me hope is that the most comparable offseason I can remember to this one was the offseason going into the 2014 season. Coming off three 8-8 seasons, Garrett was on a lame duck deal if memory serves, everyone wanted Romo gone, everyone was just sick of the mediocrity and wanted change. We had just spent high draft picks re-fortifying the o-line, gotten a new D-coordinator, and then out of nowhere had arguably the best Cowboys season we've seen since 1995, and was the closest we've come to the NFCC since. I can't believe that was a decade ago.
All nice until you remember that the RB led the league with like 1700 yds rushing that season. See THAT happening this season?

You know what is funny on my part? I have a Cowboy helmet tat on my left leg about the size of a tennis ball that I have had for years. Well, yesterday I went to a place that cuts hair and also does tattoos. While I was getting my hair cut, in the other room was the tattoo artist.

After my hair cut I went into the other room and talked to the tattoo artist about covering up the Cowboy helmet with something else. I showed him my tat and he said that he will work something up and that I can book an appointment this coming Monday. So, I'm going to get rid of that Cowboy helmet and get it covered with whatever he comes up with.

Not sure why I posted this, but that is how I feel and am glad and can't wait until this coming Monday.
Bye Felicia....I pretty sure they can get Trigger Trey's frame onto that Helmet Tattoo.

Move to the 49ers. They got great Tattoo parlors and their team beats Dak:lmao::lmao:

You can try to make jokes all you want but I've (and many others) have been way more right about where the Cowboys fit in the pecking order season to season than you have. This team is like many of the others - some high level talent, some depth concerns, weak at positions that often have given them fits in big games. Every team of the last 25 years has largely been a disappointment and flamed out early in the postseason. Even those few teams that put together great regular seasons.

Why anyone would expect anything differently at this point is puzzling. This likely isn't a SB team. They treaded water this offseason instead of trying to really improve a team that despite winning a bunch of regular season games last year, showed they were still highly flawed and got run off their own turf in the first round.

The safe assumption is that this team will again battle for a playoff spot and if they make it, chances are they will flame out early again. And then we just repeat what he have for the last, who knows how many, offseasons.

But............ Jerry has created an atmosphere/environment this offseason that if there are some sputtering in the beginning of the year, this thing could go off the tracks. Their HC is basically a lame duck HC. Jerry and his son did little in the way of FA to make large improvements to a team that showed last year they were good but once again not good enough. I am assuming Dak has a contract by then but if he does not and he starts the season without a deal, that just creates more drama that could bubble over if they start slow.

While I don't think it will happen, there hasn't been a situation in the last 3-4 years where all the pieces are in place for a Wade Phillips like collapse if things go off track early in the season.

Why is 7-10 optimistic for a team that was 12-5 a year ago?

That's total nonsense.
Is it? So you think this team is still a 12-5 team? Do you really think we are going to coast to identical records based on last season's record? That might work for Vegas one week after the season, but I don't subscribe to it when I see what we didn't do this offseason. And if you don't think that GB fallout isn't going to linger, then you sleep easier than I do.

What are you talking about, there’s no stench, Jerry says everything is going great, he has a SB team again and Cowboys are eons ahead of all the other teams. Dak is going to get mega dollars to choke some more and do more with less, the future is bright The Dak worm is turning and aSB is right there for the taking. Dak doesn’t play for money he just has to be paid the highest to be fair to the other QBs. Give Jerry credit, trust him he understands everything and doing everything humanly possible to make it happen right now. Doesn’t this make you feel better.

Not identical necessarily, but there is no logic to say 7-10 is optimistic. Have they really lost 5 games worth of players? Did you love Dorrance Armstrong and Tony Pollard that much?

They're as likely to win 14 games as they are 7.

Agree with OP, and think most fans do, but to be that glass half-full fan, will say this is similar to that year Garrett had his contract extended. When Romo went down, all hope was lost, and Dak and Zeke came out guns blazing for not only OROY, but OPOY. Youth regenerates a team. So hoping those draft picks can do some magic. They're all on the lines, and that is where the team has been bullied most end of season and playoffs.
