The secondary - let 'em all walk

It wouldn't shock me if Carr, Mo, Church and Wilcox each get deals that make us take a pass. There's a lot of really crappy secondary play in the league.

That would leave us with:
CB- Brown, Scandrick, Leon McFadden
S- Jones, Heath, Frazier

Both would need depth at least and I would think this would make CB, specifically, a priority in the draft. We'd probably need at least one vet in the CB rotation, too. I'm not sold on McFadden playing meaningful snaps. There's an argument to be made that CB would then be a higher need than DE at this point - just from sheer numbers if nothing else.

I suppose it's possible that Showers could be a player at safety, but I'd hate to think we are an injury away from relying on the former UTEP QB.

We may need to overpay somebody at CB just to avoid a catastrophe.
Sign guys at cap friendly deals
I problem is not the secondary. We need a front 7 particularly edge rushers. Any secondary would look pedestrian playing behind this pass rush. I hoping Mo and Carr comes back, at the right price.

I think you need to avoid being desperate to resign them but I do think that we should resign at least one of the S and one of the CB. More than that is fine too but I do think you should be willing to walk away if they want big or long term money.

My. God.

HELP!!!!

Unless any of them give us a home team ( I don't want to uproot my family and pay moving costs) discount they are worth no more than any other FA talent. I'm so done with Marinelli's comfort factor issues, his defenses are worthless against playoff opponents.

Outside of Sean Lee, the secondary was the best thing about the defense.

I am with you. Its almost unbelievable how few plays this group makes.

I am absolutely, positively 100% confident that you have no idea what you're talking about.

It's like all our DB's are a bunch of solid #2's and #3's but no consistent #1 out there. Singular pun emphasis. If you miss on pass rush specialist again, don't miss out on a good corner or safety.

This defense needs an edge pass rush that consistently pressures quarterbacks for four quarters every game. If BPA matches defensive end, I hope the front office makes that selection instead of cornerback.
True, but either way, just needs to be a defensive pick early this year, and it doesn't matter what position, there will be some interesting prospects looming around that first pick, and there could be a Zach Cunningham slip to that spot. I have zero issue drafting a 6'4" 235 ILB Vanderbilt.
Just saying, I don't care what positional group we draft, just be BPA defense in this draft, that's not being one dimensional, its just time to address it.

I would love to over haul the secondary. We haven't been a strong secondary in years. That will help the pass rush with our db blanketing the wr

and the lures in the water,,,, 20 pages of debate forthcoming.

I don't think you can lose 3/4s of your secondary. My guess is the FO would overpay at least one to have some continuity back there if all 4 guys were getting higher than the Cowboys pegged.
I agree, but it's been done before and the team I believe had a very successful year. 1981...SF 49ers.

Not saying that we could capture that type of magic, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

That's an awful idea. DB is the hardest position to play on defense. Schematically, and chemistry wise, that would set our defense back 3 years. Our secondary was impressive this year. The big yard plays were by design, minus a handful of bonehead plays by mostly young guys. It wouldn't matter much if we had Revis, Sherman, Thomas, and Chancellor in the backfield, without pressure on the QB, good receivers will get open or find space. Our OL is a prime example. A 4th rd rookie QB had absurd numbers. Half of which is due to talent, the other half, because he knew he could simply stand there, and just wait for someone to get open. Fix the lack of pressure, DB's don't have to spend as much time chasing routes, and can start thinking about watching the QB, and ball more.

Including in Dallas. Stats can lie.

Who thinks this secondary makes a stop to win a game without a drop or crappy QB play?
