The speed of Ezekial Elliott

Pollard beats one guy and it’s only only one guy. Zeke fails to beat one guy and there is an excuse. Zeke fans are officially more biased and irrational than Dez fans were. The hypocrisy is off the charts now

I'm confused as to how it's an "excuse" to say he should have just attacked the DB instead of waiting? He should have been more decisive and he should seen the missed block quicker and made the adjustment.. Analysis is not excuse making my man.. Zeke failed on that play... If talking about why something doesn't work then you should work on that. Whenever my players don't make plays that they are supposed to make I am going to analyze why. If you disagree with my analysis then fine.. come with your own.. Dismissing it as some sort of fanboy-ism is just lazy.

What i'm more concerned with is that the play was on the inside, either he didnt see it or hasnt the flexibility to make the cut.

I think most of us would prefer Pollard in open field situations.

I don't disagree that Pollard is the better call in space, but there was nothing to be had on the inside. One of the linebackers was there as was Winfield the safety. The only chance to score was going to be make a bee line for the pylon, put the ball in your outside arm and use the inside arm to ward the DB off long enough to reach the ball for the pylon.

wow. For the first time ever you admit Zeke failed without trying to emphasize another error to buffer for him or downplay Pollard in some way. I will take that as progress.

BS.. I posted during the game that Zeke should have run that play differently. You, like many, just see and hear what you want to.. Zeke plays in the NFL against other highly paid and highly skilled athletes.. He fails a lot.. He also succeeds a lot.. That's kinda how it works.. Since you wanna bring Pollard into the discussion. As I posted last week.. Zeke has been held under 3 ypc in about 10% of his games.. Pollard has been held under 3 ypc in over 30% of his.. What that tells me is the Zeke fails a lot less than Pollard does.. You disagree?

You replied to a comment that was regarding Pollard. That’s why I made the comment about Zeke not winning 1 on 1. Did you not understand the context of my comment you quoted before responding in the first place? Like always, you just felt the need to jump in and defend Zeke.

Fine, rather than engage in any of this nonsense about Zeke vs Pollard I prefer to focus on how to get the most out of both of them. Zeke needs to run like Zeke, the Cowboys need to ask him to run like Zeke and let Pollard run like Pollard. If they try to change either of them to be more like the other they lose effectiveness of both. Hopefully what they did against San Diego continues to be their approach. Let both guys do what they do... Mix in a little outside with Zeke and a little inside with Pollard.. but use the guys properly and let's go win some games.

Watched the Browns today working that Chubb/Hunt combo perfectly, hint hint hint.

Google his early days highlights, we aren't seeing that now.
I disagree zeke hasn’t lost much. His rookie year he was getting holes that you could run a truck through. He was rarely touched until he got to the second level. Also we now run out of the shotgun more and zeke doesn’t have time to get his speed up before contact.

Let's do this, put this on hold until after MNF. Let's see how it goes, see what everyone has to say about this after the game. Right now I see a slower Zeke, he has lost a step, but.....maybe I'm wrong. Curious if the TV guys mention something about Zeke not being his old self.

BUT.....still too early to get too carried away with anything NFL.

Gonna predict Zeke is going to do what he can to show all of us that he is still "Da Man" in Dallas, while Pollard just doesn't care.

Going to be interesting where this goes, would be cool if it were like Chubb/Hunt in Cleveland, a total....cool two studs!

In a perfect Cowboys world, we have the ball on the one and only 10 players out there, Zeke breaks off right tackle and is gone, yep....zoom....99 yards to tie Tony D and Derrick Henry, shut everyone up.

As most know, combine times are a horrible way to gauge a guy's game speed. Kids train with sprint coaches for 3 months leading up to the combine so as to run good times. Most of them will never train that way ever again in life so they're not likely to ever be that fast again. The obvious exceptions being guys who are lifelong track athletes for whom speed training IS their norm.. I'll never forget that 91 yard run though.. The Rams never even touched him and their safety basically stood there and watched Murray run by him. It was hilarious.. Classic deer in headlights!

Yeah, like Zeke.

Well lets see...

Averaged

5.1
4.1
4.7
4.5
last season 4.0
this season 3.9

You've simply wrong if you think at 26 he still has the jets he once had, he doesn't and we all see it, hard to believe you don't.

Long runs each season

60
30
41
33
31
29

So the last two seasons his worst averages and no long runs,

Lol... Those numbers don't have to be attributed to speed, there are many factors, o line, Play call, defense adjustments to him, touches all are factors

Remember when Zeke would fly through the air and hurdle people like it was nothing. Man that was awesome.

Why is everyone down on Zeke right now, what is he lacking?

Watch video of zeke going around and through dudes the first 3 years. Now watch video of the last couple years and spot the difference.....im down on him for getting one 8 yard run and then taking himself out of the game for a break. It became a pattern where he joined the lame NBA players "game management" philosophy. Real football players don't do that

Pansy NBA players do

I should have never made that post so I'm going back to my original point... some fans think it's Zeke vs Pollard. Other fans understand it's Zeke plus Pollard equals advantage Cowboys. These are RBs that complement each other and together give us a pretty good running game.
Yep..in a nutshell that's it.

It would seem it's some sort of personal philosophy....glass half full/empty kind of thing. I prefer to be positive.

Agreed that we need blocks which help spring a player but you mentioned Tony Pollard’s speed doesn’t get him 60-70 yard plays because we don’t have downfield blocking escorting the runner like Dez and Twill used to do. I showed a play were Pollard didn’t have a longer run simply because of field position. He didn’t need downfield blocking. He needed blocking to be sprung and after that it was game over for the defense. That play could have gone 99 yards if we were in the 1 yard line.
In the past we saw more players in the box. Now with the development of Dak, our WRs, our play calling and how we tear defenses apart with our passing game there are less defenders in the box and more at the second and third level. The idea that we don't have 80 yard TD runs simply because our WRs aren't the same from a blocking perspective is more than a little oversimplified

Agreed. One of the most common excuses used for Zeke's failure to hit home runs over the years has been the defense stacking the box. While stacking the box may make it harder for be more efficient on shorter runs, it makes it easier to take the distance because there is more daylight when a RB does break through to the 2nd and 3rd level.
