You're starting backfield tonight: Brandon Weeden and Gus Johnson.

No Tony Romo. No Joseph Randle. No Darren McFadden or Lance Dunbar. They're not playing. No Dez Bryant either, as well as others.

(If it were up to me, Romo wouldn't play a down the entire preseason, a la Adrian Peterson.)

I'm interested to see the pass rush tonight, but other than that, I WANT TO SEE THE CLOCK RUNNING.

No injuries, no injuries, no injuries. Backups, backups, backups.

I wish the starting OL didn't play until next week.

The little guys get so much rest and the big guys hardly ever get any time off. Makes no sense.

How many OLine starters will be getting some burn?

They'll play the offensive line for a good while. This is actually a good night for Weeden to get some quality work with good protection.

And this is the biggest night of Gus Johnson's and Lache Seastrunk's lives. They get to run behind that line.

I hate games like this, when you see starting linemen being cut down at the knees and players carted or helped off the field. Getting out of here healthy is priority 1. #2 will be watching our pass rush and run support, #3 our CB play and of course last but not least, Gus "the Kicking Mule".

I hope fans keep in mind, preseason game 1, no game planning, only a few starters, and only for a short time. It's for players to knock off the rust, test coming back from injuries. rookies and 2nd and 3rd year players, on the bubble. Trying to avoid being churned.

no...we will get some ruing and we are in shambles posts tomorrow.......over evaluation, under evaluation....Mo is horrible, Mo looks good...Weeden sucks, Weeden looks decent....Gus Johnson will make us forget about Murray [well I really hope this one could be true].....there, that is tomorrow's recap of the threads and posts...LOL...

I will watch the entire game. I want to see how some of these players look. Ben Gardner, and of course Gus Johnson. Byron Jones and Corey White, where they line up, and how often, which will not be indicative for the season however. Randall Gregory, and what type of pass rush moves he has so far. And also Ryan Russell, how he does if at DE, DT or both.

As well as the OL, Collins, Gibson, Weems. Too bad we won't see Chaz Green. Also want to see all the young WR's signed battling for the 5th WR spot, and Whitehead on P & K returns.
Interested in Showers at QB, and how else he may be used.

I am ready. Going to keep busy all day as not to think about what time it is....LOL....

This entire preseason is about 3-4 roster spots.

Keep that in mind.

Anything more will be solely because of injuries.

I'm interested in seeing how Randy Gregory, Byron Jones, Gus Johnson, Damien Wilson and Russell Ryan do, in that order.
I have a mild interest in George Farmer as I think he has tremendous upside. I'm not as interested in La'el Collins because I think he's going to fit in just find, and I don't have too many worries about our offensive line.
But I want to see if we get any pass rush from RG; I'm excited to see how BJ does at either corner or safety and if Gus Johnson can be our next Terrell Davis or Adrian Foster.
Then I want to see how DW fares, especially if Ro goes crazy on us or Lee gets injured again. Then I'm hoping RR is a pleasant surprise.

For me its about 4 guys: RB-Gus, PRKR-Lucky, CB\S-Jones and DE-Gregory
If we hit on these 4 spots, the rest will fall into place.

Watch Greg Hardy, too.

He's been out a long time, and he's got a four-game suspension waiting, so he needs work.

We need to see Weeden and the RBs with the starters at OL

I tend to agree, but can be easily said 7 to 9 spots too. Depending on how many they keep at certain positions.
The other 45 spots can easily be "inked" in.

The other 8 depends.
Do they keep a 3rd QB, Go with 4 RB's because of health. Who is the 5th WR. Probably Whitehead as of today.
If Green is on PUP, do they keep both Weems and Gibson on the OL. Or is Gibson a PS guy.
Do they keep 4 TE's.

I say LB's pretty well set, but do they go with 6 or 7, I think 7. DB's, do they keep McCray and or Heath because of ST's. Depends on other positions here.
DL, how many do the keep, do they go long, until Hardy returns, then go from there as to who, if any are gone.

Ben Gardener is a guy to watch. I thinks he's a lock for a roster spot but he's fighting to be the 7th or 8th DL rotation guy. If he can contribute 10-15 quality snaps a game when Hardy is out - that'd be huge

I watched Lucky's highlight reel. He was catching kicks at the 20 yard line against some extremely weak competition. I mean weak. Texas High school teams would prob beat up on some of those teams. He was the fastest guy on the field which made his returns easy. And he only had one TD against those guys in the return game. I hope he has been working on his hands and securing the ball, because returning kicks tonight is a big jump in competition to what he is accustomed. Punts will be higher in the air, and tight spiraling. I'm rooting for him, because we need Bease to be drinking Gatorade when the PR team is on the field. I don't care if he catches a pass all year as long as he does not drop any kicks and makes hay when there is a chance for a return. Not worried about KR so much because those don't get returned much anymore. I'm worried about the PR spot. He should feel "Lucky" to have a chance and that Dallas called him as soon as the draft was over to fill that spot.

Anyone have an idea of how they are going split up the snaps for the qbs? A quarter for weeden, 2 for Vaughn and one for showers? Does that seem right?
