The Taco Thread

I think the Cowboys need to improve their offensive line play. They also need to make sure Dez improves in his knowledge of the offense. And it would help greatly to get a consistent pass rush.
Nicely done...

Well, it's a riff off the thread hijacking done in the FZ when folks starts talking about tacos.

-----------------------------
I don't really buy tacos anymore, because I can make them at home for cheaper and quicker. I don't have a tortilla press or anything. I just buy corn tortillas and then fry them up to get a hard shell. I'm not good at it, but I rather fix them that way than buy the pre-made in a box kind.

That said, when I do buy tacos, I primarily go to Taco Cabana or the el cheapo route of Taco Smell.

If you are looking for an authentic sit down restaurant, there is a chain here in Charleston, SC called La Hacienda.

I didn't know you lived in Charleston. I live in Summerville. And you're right about "La Ha". My office is always going there to get really good Mexican food and the price is really good.

There's a restaurant I keep hearing about in FW called the Yucatan Taco Stand. I've seen pics of the food on FB, too.

Have you ever been there?

Just so flavorful, and everything is quite inexpensive. I haven't been out West yet to get real Mexican cuisine, but here on the East, I think this is as good as it gets.

If you are looking for fast food, Moe's is the way to go. I love their tacos and burritos, much better than Qdoba and Chipotle, plus their homemade sauces are much better.

Moe's is ok but IMO Qdoba and Chipotle are MUCH better

I'm with you! Moe's chicken looks like it's 5 days old and is dry as a bone.

I like my own puffy tacos. I fry the shells which puff out a bit (but I don't make them myself...takes too long). Add shredded, spiced chicken (cooked with onion, tomato, garlic, tomato sauce, chicken stock, salt and pepper), my own guacamole, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes.

Yum.

I have. They're good. Although they opened two additional locations in Southlake and Frisco that shut down pretty quickly late last year.

The founder of YTS, also has started a small chain called Fuzzy's Tacos which does a nice product as well.

I'm planning to make it my business to go to Yucatan's next week when I get to FW. Maybe they didn't survive because they weren't good locations or too much competition in the area?

There's a Fuzzy's down here, but I'm not sure it's the same. If it is, then I may check them out. http://www.fuzzystacoshop.com/location.html

Just looking at the pics, it's been on my must visit for awhile, but I've yet to make it because of other obligations.

It could be a fairly new business that I am just not aware of...I was a reserve Ft. Worth Police officer back in 89-90 and that would have been part of my sector so unless it has just slipped my mind I just don't remember it.

Not a taco, but close enough. I ate a a Chuys last week & lucked into being there when they had their "wild burrito" as a daily special:

chuys-wild-burrito.jpg

Wild Burrito – A flour tortilla stuffed with slow-roasted beef, charro beans, Monterey jack cheese and green chiles, smothered with Hatch Green Chile and Queso Sauces. Served with green chile rice.

If you like spicy foods, then this is a must try.

Lord, that looks amazing. I can feel my heart palpitating though just imagining the first bite!

from a local Nashville Food truck, it had some crunchy pork skin in it, sooo tasty.
