I may be wrong but I think JG's responsibility is putting together a complete game plan, OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE with the input from the OC and DC. Then keep the team organized through the week to practice that game plan. In game? The first 10-15 plays are scripted for the offense. After the script it's on Linnehan to adjust on offense and Mary to adjust on defense. Sure, again halftime is adjustments made offensively and defensively by JG/SL and JG/RM. JG is the coach of the TEAM not just the offense

It just can not be an excuse for the coaches though if the wheels fall off.

They will have had a few weeks to prepare for this and 1 hole in the boat that isn't the QB shouldn't sink the boat.

If Dallas fails this year then Jason Garrett just can not escape because of this 1 injury.

We can not have a coach that makes his team so fragile that the whole thing falls apart with an injury.

2014 GB game. Garrett’s fiasco in the playoffs was him panicking at the ending the first half and rushing to call a timeout when Jason Witten was clearly short of the sticks (1.5 yards) right in front of Garrett. Instead of trying to rush to the line to take advantage of the opportunistic spot or force an officials timeout to save our own, he calls timeout which allows the booth to reverse the first down and force 3rd down. That led to the Romo bobbled snap on 3rd down and Bailey’s missed FG. Had we saved our timeout we could have probably ran on 3rd and short instead of pass.

In 2016, we get 1st and goal with over a minute and timeouts to burn against Philly at the end of first half. We proceed to throw on both 1st and 2nd down, throwing an interception on 2nd down instead of running the ball and milking clock or forcing Philly to use their timeouts. Even if we don’t throw the interception, the 3rd down play would have almost certainly been a pass as well. End result is Philly would have had ample time to mount a drive before half even if we score a TD or end up kicking a FG instead of the interception because all play calls were into the end zone guaranteeing a stoppage of clock. BTW, Philly scored a FG before half.

In 2015, we get 1st and goal at the Atlanta 1 and call a timeout with 50 seconds left in first half. We score on first play and Atlanta has time to march the field almost scoring a TD if their own before half but settling for FG.

In 2016, we get 1st and 10 from 15 with 75 seconds left in first half with 2 timeouts. We proceed to throw 3 straight times into the end zone taking only 15 seconds off clock and leaving Rodgers a full minute to mount a drive. Thankfully the defense finally made a stop. Then in 2nd half we spike the damn ball with almost 50 seconds left wasting a down instead of keeping a tired GB defense on their heels. We ended up only saving time for Rodgers to beat us.

True, then why has Stephen been the one saying We will not draft a one tech, that does not exhibit 3,tech properties..I tell you, coz there are numerous,picks that the nonfootball gm makes, reaches, and is responsible for... There have also been FA that were not his decision to bring in..

Not injury related but this team has had a history of falling apart when one key player is missing...Emmitt Smith holdout...Danny White breaking his wrist in 86 after starting 6-2 ..complete collapse. Tyron going out injured last year ..Green coming in and making Adrian look like Reggie White....Sean Lee going out and the entire defense looking like they never played a down of football.

Not going to argue various other reasons for the loss. I am not “blaming” that loss entirely on Garrett. There were many more issues that game I like Witten whiffing on a block, TWill dropping a wide open pass, Butler being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Daks interception, etc that all factor in the loss....a horrible loss to a broken down team.

The point is Garrett has a history of mismanaging the clock that continues and he still makes excuses for it instead of improving. He would earn a lot of points back with me if he would just improve in that area. We all know the defense has sucked and our offensive strategy has been to play ball control and we do that effectively until the 2’minute warning. Afterwards it seems like we try to conserve time for the opponent and put the defense in a situation they have failed in too many times to count by allowing a quick score late in the halves.

And I understand Garrett isn’t the playcaller but he is the boss and if he doesn’t like Scott’s or the QBs decision making he can have a meeting and make damn sure they know what the expectation is moving forward. But that doesn’t happen and we continue to allow our opponent more time than necessary to score when we can control that better.

It is something that will continue to occur because Garrett doesn’t even think it is an issue which needs solving.

I have no idea why we don't draft a 1 tech billy. I have no idea why we don't draft a S high either. I suppose you could say Byron Jones was drafted high BUT he fits best as a CB. We don't draft 3 Techs high either. I'm thinking when Mary retires those things may change.

Its about dam time Dak and Zeke step up! Frederick will miss time and maybe that means Dak wont have 6 sec to throw the ball and has to get rid of it in 4 like most normal QBs do. Maybe Zeke wont have holes the size of a car to run through untouched so he may have to take what he can get and grind out tough yards like Leonard Fournette did all last year. Im sick and tired of everyone having excuses. Injuries are all part of the game! Every team has them and thats where Garrett needs to become creative and find ways to deal with in game adjustments like that Chaz Green crap that was just pathetic. Garretts inability to adjust and coach these players is going to make this a sink or swim season.
This is also a good test for young Dak to grab the bull by the horns and start changing plays and making adjustments on his own if Garrett is standing on the sidelines like a deer in headlights not knowing how to adjust to what the defense is doing!!

They won't fall apart from teh loss of Frederick, but they will if Looney goes down.
I never liked the strategy of consistently drafting high at one position group. The drop off in talent to the next level is dramatic and other units on the roster suffer as well. Whether it be the loss of Smith, Frederick or some other starter, the Cowboys are thin talent-wise on the OL and can't afford to be depending on their 7th man.
