Isn't it funny/ironic how Hargrave was in the super bowl w/ Philly, went to SF and then they were in the super bowl?

How in the world do teams keep undervaluing DT play? Philly paid their WR's and let Hargrave walk, and fell apart. Maybe that wasn't THE reason they fell apart, but it was a huge part of it. You simply cannot replace that DT who disrupts.

I agree, but I think we are in the minority. People think it's all about the flashy edge rushers. AND if they aren't going to be disruptive pass rushers they had BETTER be run stopping monsters. We have neither.

The game is one in the trenches. Since the beginning of the game. You can’t win consistently without running the football and not stopping the run. Just not possible. It may be a passing league now but the interior still needs to be stout.

Yeah I hate Philly but Hargreaves was more about pass rushing. They still have two first rounders on that line as well as Cox and Milton Williams.

I think the issue the Cowboys have is they can’t find their guy in the draft. Some teams find them on the 4th or 5th round. Cowboys can’t seem to do it. They can’t find every other position but DT. Well more so a 1 tech.

Kevin, you and I go back to the old team forum years ago and I remember us discussing this very topic. We would rather overpay WRs!

Football has always been a simple game. Blocking and tackling are the absolute fundamentals of teams who win championships. We’ve had some really good OLs who can definitely block. But when was the last time we could say we had a DL that could stop the run when you had to get a stop?

Unfortunately I think there is a direct correlation to Jerry's marketing mindset. WR's, RB's, CB's & Edge's are visible, easy to market. DT's not so much.

There is no way all the coaching that has passed thru here have all undervalued the interior. The boss tells them what the priorities are. Even when they try to draft one, they can't get it right.

Well definitely Marinelli and his quick twitch BS did not help; but for the last 15 years or really since Wade left the interior DL has not been a priority in any way. Hankins was a pretty cheap grab that worked out well and then we dump him when he would only have cost a couple of million to keep. Then they get desperate and grab a guy who had several red flags as regards his play.

Yeah it’s amazing. Mazi was the right pick I stand by that but it looks like it’s not heading in the right direction. They did fine with Osa. They just can’t get good one tech play and can’t get a guy like Vita Vea to fall to them….but would they have taken him? Probably not especially if a big time skills player was there.

I'm still holding out hope that we can get a productive Mazi under Zimmer's system.

I think he was asked to do things that didn't quite fit his skill set under DQ.

If you want to win Championships you build through the trenches. If you want to sell tickets, jerseys and be entertaining then pay big money to WR and RB's.

Jerry does value DT but only ones like Aaron Donald. They don't care about guys who can stop the run. Since most DT's aren't on Donald's level they just lose interest in them. Which is sad because having a couple guys who can shore up the middle is a huge asset.

I’m so confused between his weight loss to his inability to get off the snap….i think they made him worse somehow.

I mean they’ve drafted guys that fit this mold and can’t seem to find a good one.
