It always entertains me when I hear of people who think that a "rebellion" or a "boycott" or some petition-drive is gonna' change anything.
Owning an NFL team is not an elected office. It's a dictatorship. Be it a benevolent dictator, or a tyrant, doesn't make a difference.
There's no "uprising" or "revolt" or "revolution" built into the system to create "anarchy" and "upset the regime". This is NOT a democracy. Popular vote doesn't rule. If it did, the Bidwell's and the Al Davis' of the world would've been gone long ago.
If you follow the Dallas Cowboys, the first order of business, if you want to remain sane and free of ulcers, is to understand that YOU HAVE ZERO (as in NONE, NADDA, ZILCH) SAY in the date that Jerry brings to the prom.
Take T.O..............Nobody, and I mean NOBODY likes T.O. I myself can't stand the guy, ala the Niners and the Beagles. But Jerry went after him and got him. Little 'ole me, being a Cowboy die-hard, had nothing to say about it. So guess what??? Now, I'm a T.O. guy, because I HAVE to be. I have NO SAY in the matter.
That's life in the world of NFL "fandom". Don't like it? Then follow another deal where you actually have a vote that matters. Follow politics. Join the Rotary. 'Till then, it's Jerry's show, for better or worse.
People go to work every day to jobs they hate and boss's they can't stand. But there ain't squat they can do about it, so they just labor on and put up with it. Like it or not, you're gonna' PUT UP with Jerry until he's damn good and ready to either relinquish his GM position or sell the team.
Put up all the BillBoards you want. Organize a "revolt". Have airplanes fly banners. March on Valley Ranch. Won't make a difference. We're stuck with this deal. The only option is to quit on Dallas and start buying Steeler or Cardinal gear............
Get over it................................................
I can see the futility of many movements to boycott, oppose, revolt.
I just don't see the resignation you propose. The towel thrown in.
You probably give up easily, huh?
Well, many Cowboy fans do not!
(cue in "Battle Hymn of the Republic")
Heck no.
Yes, it would have been easy to shrug it away when they changed our Coca-Cola. And then they took the 8-track away.
It didn't bother me when they took my right away to bear arms in downtown Dallas. And even during the lowest of the low times, like the time that Jackie started dating Krushchev, even then I would not give up. Throw in the towel.
No, sir, our right to boycott, rebel, revolt, demote or evoke is ours.
Ours as guaranteed by the deeds of heroes before us. We don't give up easily.
When the shopkeepers of the middle colonies resisted agin the british tariffs, it was a failed boycott. When Sherman marched across Montana and then tried to starve the grape growers them farmers boycotted Sherman.
And so it goes.
No, our right to boycott or protest is written in stone.
Guaranteed by Washington, Lincoln, Filmore, Roosevelt and Obama.
And don't yew forget it, buster!
