Jerry is both a Hall of Fame owner and a Hall of Shame general manager. However a snake oil salesman he is not. Those guys do not wind up building one of the most valued sports franchises in the world; or build one of a kind stadium 14 years ago along with state of the art training facilities. The Jones family have also given hundreds of millions to charities.

Jerry is too old to be a full functioning general manager and when he was younger and more active he made some good acquisition decisions but those were eclipsed by too many bad ones that have led to team developmental setbacks. He is a GM figure head who still relishes mouth farting to the media. I pretty much ignore what he states in the media or what is reported out.

This team is full with a lot of young guys who are our best players, mixed in with some vets. These young guys bring the attitude, the nastiness, the hunger, and they back it up!!!! Can anyone remember our players being this good, mean etc in the Garrett regime? I feel like our players were in the mold of our head coach.

With guys like Quinn, Harris, Mike, they seem to love this atmosphere which is suited well for this team. So how about it, are you in love with how this team conpetes and scraps, or do you just want them to shut up and play? Please give your thoughts.....
We dont know how this team competes and scraps until they SHOW us in actual games

The Cowboys are loaded with talent and they have a dam good roster. The defense use to be the weak link but suddenly things have changed. The addition of Mazi and Gilmore should mean Quinn has the D Superbowl ready. I like the pieces they added on offense with Cooks and Schoonemaker. The offensive line needs to replace Tyron and they need to find Daks replacement.

This team does have a nice mix of vets and young guys who make plays.

But…

It all comes down to the quarterback.

Always has.

Always will.
No it doesn't not on here!!!! I know he's the face of the team, HIGHEST PAID, wears the red shirt at practice, is all world to jerry (sarcasm!) lol

People don't want you to say that about Tyron so please don't say it again (I agree with you!!!!!!) Not the same player at all

I agree with you, BUT this is the first deeply talented roster that has more talent on the defense side of the ball. I still believe a dominant D( 14 or less points per game given up ) can win Super Bowls! A dominant D, will allow Dak to be more conservative with the ball, run the ball, play great D, and take what the other D gives.

I am confident in this D, but if we would have picked up Bobby Wagner for 8-10 million per year, I would have been EXTREMELY confident in this D. I hope our LBers step up this year!!!!!! I’m not talking about our DE Micah!
I agree. its putting a TEAM together that can succeed. and having a great D is key. I think it starts with run defense. if we are not able to consistently stop the run, we may struggle yet again on defense. specially against all the mobile RBs we are facing in our division and outside the division. containing those QBs is going to be critical.

Do you really believe that

If the Cowboys won the Superbowl it would be because of an elite defense turning over the ball and consistently giving the offense excellent starting position whilst keeping the other teams' scoring down. Prescott would be driving the bus behind a strong offensive line with an all pro receiver and strong running game as any starting QB in the league would do - most at the fraction of the price.

Dak Prescott isn't the key cog in the team. His ceiling is known and the front office have built a stacked roster to carry him.
does it matter how and why we get there? or is it if we get there, about trying to prove Dak wasn't contributing to it?

Every single year we get threads like this.lol Last year was actually set up perfectly for us to get to the SB. If we hadn't played subpar after Thanksgiving we might have caught the Eagles. We really only had 2 teams we had to worry about and we couldn't even stumble to a championship game. The defense is set but it was good enough last year. This season as always is going to come down to the offense and there are still question marks with it. And every year some teams go up and some teams go down. we have no idea if the NFC will be a tougher conference this year. Plus the Cowboys always play better when they are underrated. When expectations are high, that's when they fold. If this year is truly different then they won't. The defense should make us contenders but we'll see about the rest.;
I didn't think last year was going to be our year. I said it before the season, its at least a two year process of converting this team to superbowl capable team. lets see how we do this year.

Them Garret years were frustrating and the team never made no progress with that dude or his staff. One season they are good the next they are bad and the next season they good rinse and repeat. Finally got some consistency with Mike as a head coach.
Garrett valued character over everything else. Might work in other leagues, but in the NFL talent trumps all.

Garrett and Marinelli were a complete joke. Today’s team is a night and day difference compared to what was happening with those 2 clowns!
Polar opposite type team. And no more filling the roster w/ skinny "rushmen"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS ABOUT HOW THE TEAM TURNED IT AROUND.
IT IS NOT A DAK THREAD, SO DO NOT TURN IT INTO AN ARGUMENT THREAD ABOUT DAK. AS IT SEEMS TO HAVE STARTED.
DISCUSS HIM APPROPRIATELY WITHIN THE FORUM RULES AND GUIDELINES. AS I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK AND DELETE MANY OF THOSE POSTS AT THIS TIME.

YOU WILL BE THREAD BANNED WITHOUT WARNING.

And that was just the tip of the iceberg. That team had plenty of problems and they had no clue how to fix any of them. The job at DT alone in a ten year span was comical.

Less HotBoyz and more "Lions" like Micah are needed especially on offense where they are too mousey.
