I always forget it is the QB who wins the Super Bowl. Defense, run game, special teams. Useless. Let's just get backups everyone and trade everything for Luck and Rodgers. We'd win the Super Bowl FOREVER!

I've heard your arguments forever on this board and others. No, a team wins a ball game or loses it but, QB's for the most part are judged by
big game wins and superbowl wins. It may not be fair and it may not be accurate but, that's just the way pundits, writers and voters
judge when thinking about Canton.

Is this the fist top ten QB list ever (in the last decade plus anyways) to not have Peyton on it? Or the first one ever to have Eli rated higher than Peyton?

Not saying Peyton should be on it. Just seem strange to not see him on it.

I agree with the sentiment that Andrew Luck is overrated, however I can't place Romo above guys like Rogers, Brady, Big Ben, Wilson, or Brees.

He's right there with Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, Eli, Phillip Rivers, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, etc.

I love Romo and what he's done for this team, but the reality is that he needs to accomplish more before he can move up higher on the list. A ring would cement his status as one of the top QBs of all time, but without one, he's destined to be perceived just as he is now - a great player who puts up big numbers, but couldn't get it done in the post-season.

I disagree on current rankings, I think one rolls the dice on predictability of production on a consistent basis. With Romo, production as well as leading a team from behind, both, are at the top of the stacks.

Big Games & Superbowls matter and pretty much defines the career of a top shelf franchise QB. I think Romo is a great QB who makes our team go, if it goes at all.
The problem is that he has a history of underperforming in really big, meaningful games. I would not call Romo a choker but, many do and he would tell you
himself that not winning a championship game or SB would leave a black mark on his legacy in Dallas.

LOL! Yeah, Peyton Manning was awesome this season.

He wasn't and we all know he was on his last hurrah but, I can guarantee you that he will be a first ballot HOF
winner in Canton. If Romo doesn't win the big one, he won't even get a sniff.

Is that a fair question to ask considering the season he just had? Is "8" a bit high?

I do not, and won't judge a man's works based on the limitations placed upon them by those around him...legacy is what builds of those efforts. I don't spoil my rooting and sportsmanship by total picture that includes a ton of variables outside of that one player's controls.

An admittance into the Super Bowl isn't all polluted by the number of trophies that are in a team's case.

Haha I can understand that argument. I don't think he is an elite passer by any stretch. However, as field general and someone who will get you a W, he's definitely on the list.

Then again, this argument looks much better before the Superbowl...

FYI his defense did give him 25 possessions inside the opponent territory this year. Can you imagine what Romo would have done with that???

He led a team that went 15-1. If he had went on and won the Superbowl, no one would be questioning his place. He has arguably the worst receiving core in the league. When Ted Ginn is your top wide out, you have no business winning games. Think how much better Newton and the Panthers would have been with Benjamin in the lineup?

I would take Benjamin here and now.

The off season has officially begun now that the first of perhaps fifty top ten lists of "QBs/Romo is rated too low!!" lists has hit the Zone.

My anguish knows no bounds.

When Romo had his best year ever in 2014, and Murray led the league in rushing, many assumed that Romo had simply taken advantage of defenses that were playing up to try to stop Murray. In reality, his success on the deeper targets that year was nothing new. The huge improvement (and the reason his 2014 passer rating was his best ever) was on the shorter throws, the underneath stuff -- in the area where defenders were supposedly gathered in larger numbers because of the threat of Murray.

Romo's passer rating by season
shorter targets (less than 15 yards)

2006 94.1
2007 97.6
2008 86.8
2009 96.4
2011 98.5
2012 79.2
2013 96.2
2014 110.9

deeper targets (15+ yards)

2006 95.8
2007 104.2
2008 111.0
2009 105.2
2011 114.3
2012 111.4
2013 112.7
2014 112.6

Over Romo's career (2006-15) the NFL has an average passer rating of 88.3 on the shorter targets, and 79.6 on the deeper targets.

Over the last 22 years that this data has been tracked, Romo's rating on the deeper targets is easily the best in the NFL.

Romo 112.2
Rodgers 107.3
Brees 107.2
Brady 97.9
Rivers 97.1

Greg Olsen and J Stewart are chopped liver? I don't know how many amazing catches Olsen had this year but it was a ton.

When you run a deception offense you can get away with those receivers. There were times they were running WIDE open down the field.

Again, when you make Cam throw and read the defense, he's not so good. I'll be real curious to see how he does next season.....

Add a receiver such as the Baylor WR, who runs a 4.3...and see where even those indicators go!

Thanks as usual, Percy...

Not really. No championship games, no Superbowls??? Ely has to be above him. I too think
Luck is rated to high with not enough time in the league. Until Romo can win a big one, he will
rank down in the bottom of this list. QB is more than just stats, it's all about wins and big game
wins.

Even in his best years Eli is middle of the pack (14-16). No comparison to Romo. The no championship argument is played out and lacking in logic.
