Cooper Rush is a career backup who doesn't cost much. Every team should have one. Explain using a costly 4th round pick on a BUST of a QB who not only occupies a much needed roster spot but whom you also are paying more than your veteran and proven backup QB? Jerry did this to appease Dak haters. The ignorance and stupidity on his part is why this team keeps failing.
Lol, a little early to call Lance a bust. Where did the Cowboys fall? They have won 12 games 3 years in a row.

Doubt any team trades for Lance at all - much less for a 4th round pick that the Cowboys (i.e. GM Jones) jumped at to do when the 49ers made him available.

The player saw no action this past season - plus 2024 will be the last year of his rookie contract.
If any other tea has a smattering of interest in Lance...they can just sit back, while the Cowboys continue their tutelage of him now in this offseason - into OTAs - trhrough training camp - observe him in preseason games - then bide their time during the 2024 regular season....then sign seek him out as a free agent in 2025.
Yes. That's exactly what's going to happen. What a horrible trade.

Lance had two more controlled years on his contract (at the time) I don’t think it’s a bad trade in a vacuum but it certainly did not make a lot of sense because they seemingly have no plan for him
Don't the 2 years go out the window because they have to decide by May 1st whether to pay him the $25 million bonus?

The compensation that idiot gave up for Lance becomes more ridiculous as more deals are made. Fields traded for a conditional 6th round pick that becomes a fourth only if he plays 51% of the snaps.
In 2025. So basically you can take a half round off the value of those picks. In the best case scenario for the Bears it is less than the Cowboys traded for Lance. In the worst case, it is worse than what Kenny Pickett got traded for.

I would imagine we finally get to see what Lance has this PS....so too early to tell. Rush is still QB2 at the moment but has proven he can play and win as a bus driver in this league. Lance will get his shot finally and maybe even to move on to another QB starving team if he shows something. So this will be his moment.

It was bad from day 1. Just some people are now figuring it out.

are we really complaining about this? its kinda like complaining about that 1 grey hair you looked hard for thats at the back of your head no one else but you and God see

its not a big deal, as a matter of fact its no deal at all
It was a dumb decision based in the timing all the way around.

1. Trade at the end of pre-season, so a wasted year, how do you ***** his performance?
2. His contract expires same time as Dak's.
3. No way we can pick up his 5th year -$25M.
4. Have to commit to $5M before we can actually ***** him.
5. Had to know up from there was no future trade value, based on the lack of interest he had, and we still over paid to get him.
6. If we extend Dak, and he plays great and we end up liking him, he still walks to a team that gives him an opportunity to start.

Every scenario imaginable was stupid. Only real option to keep him is if we want to completely rebuild.
