The trio of Lee, Ro, and Hitch

So it really hasn't been what I expected so far. Lee has looked mortal since the concussion and really hasn't done anything of late. Ro looks like he's trying to still get in shape, and Hitch, well to be honest I have hardly seen him. I do know that he was replaced by Wilbur yesterday for some reason.

So the All 22 gang, arm chair QB's, whats the story on this awesome trio we expected?

McClain looks so slow. He needs to be benched. The will line backer won't be effective when the Mike backer can't take on blockers and thus doesn't allow him to be unblocked. Hitchens is at least quicker and more agile right now and that's why I think he needs to be moved inside. Give Damien Wilson a shot at SAM.

Wilbur never replaced Hitchens. They ran 4-4-3 a few times with Wilbur in there as well.

My thoughts:

• Lee -- his tackle totals are still high, however, I am not seeing the same guy that we saw in the 1st week or two. I am wondering if the accumulation of leg, knee, foot, and toe injuries have taken a toll on his speed. I am not seeing him as involved in pass defense as before. He also looks to be play very light -- maybe in the 225-230 range -- and I'm not sure he is holding up as much.

• Hitchens -- I just don't notice him out there. I can't point to anything he has done poorly, however, absolutely nothing jumps out. Not sure what to think about his play.

• McClain -- too early to say but looks like he might be playing at 260-265.... which is probably 10 lbs heavier that he should be. Has looked a bit lethargic out there. He missed all of training camp and was basically locked out of VR for 4 weeks so it might just take some time for him to round into shape. Let's hope that's the issue.

I agree that McClain hasn't looked like he did last year yet, but I can't see any reason to complain about Lee's play. I hope he has the same kind of game against Philly that he did last time.

Group has been underwhelming lately. Lee was all world vs Philly and disapeared since. With McClain it is get what you can while you can.

I've heard people say McClain is coming off a illness? He sure hasn't looked right. Reacting slow. Playing slow. Not sure if he's still getting back right from the suspension or what.

I have to admit......I nearly forgot Hitchens even played for us. Not saying he hasn't played well or not but i've noticed Wilber more than him.

I really thought linebacker could've been a strength for us had we got Durant and Carter back. I understand not bringing Carter back for the money and we offered Durant a contract but he didn't accept it. Really wish we could've got a bargain for Durant though.

I think you are right about Ro. He looks slow and out of shape.

Hitchens florrished last year when he played MLB. Same at the beginning of this season. Maybe its the position he has problems with.

IDK about Lee. But i am not a fan of him and never was. Dont missunderstand me i think he is a good player. I just dont see him that great like others do.

Yeah that sucks because he had a solid rookie campaign.

McClain was coming off the flu, like someone mentioned. Probably why he looked gassed. Lee is getting eaten up because the DL isn't keeping linemen off of him. Hitch really isn't playing much because they're using Lee and McClain in nickel.

Not worried about backers, honestly.

McClain has always been slow. It was the knock on him in Oakland as well.

I don't think he's playing "awful", I think people had some weird expectations for him though.

Damien Wilson should be getting some time as he has some young legs and speed, but another case of the coaches being slow to adapt.
