  • Lee -- his tackle totals are still high, however, I am not seeing the same guy that we saw in the 1st week or two. I am wondering if the accumulation of leg, knee, foot, and toe injuries have taken a toll on his speed. I am not seeing him as involved in pass defense as before. He also looks to be play very light -- maybe in the 225-230 range -- and I'm not sure he is holding up as much
I didn't expect much from Lee in pass defense, but his run defense has been terrible. Bad angles, missed tackles. He looks really bad out there.

Lee has been ok, not the same guy from first two weeks for sure.

McClain has been awful.

The defense has played outstanding the last two weeks. 13 points back to back. Too bad the offense and special teams suck.

McClain was coming off the flu, like someone mentioned. Probably why he looked gassed. Lee is getting eaten up because the DL isn't keeping linemen off of him. Hitch really isn't playing much because they're using Lee and McClain in nickel.

Not worried about backers, honestly.

He was on the sidelines in the 1st quarter on a knee. Fatigue was definitely getting to him.

Remember those threads about how we just could not wait to see McClain with Lee and Hitchens and how beastly that would be? Good times.

These things never rarely turn out the way you envision them in the offseason/preseason.

Yep, Tom Landry always said one of the main jobs of the 4-3 is keeping blockers off LBs. Hayden not holding ground that well this year.

Awful?

Not really. Just not what people expected. He had a decent game against the Patriots.

I think they have been having him doing weird things lately that has him out of his comfort zone.

I would like to see more of Irving as well. Every time he's on the field I notice this dude. He is a monster!

Lee whiffed on tackles a few times I saw, mainly on 1st down which lead to 2nd and short for Seattle. Not sure what's going on with them.

Defensive coaching.

When every one of your sure tacklers from years past are struggling with tackling, it goes back to the coaching.

McClain looks legit awful. He's playing as bad as any corner or safety we've all crapped on the past few years.

I don't know about all that, but he sure hasn't been a catalytic player these past 2 games.

I don't think that's the approach in Marinelli's version of the 4-3.

Previous in his coaching career he's had the luxury of having multiple HOF quality linebackers on his defenses including Urlacher, Briggs, Derrick Brooks who where so athletic that the DL in front of them didn't need both shielding the LBs from the OL.

Who is super athletic in the current group? Lee not shedding getting caught in the wash.

We allowed 13 points yesterday. Held Beast Mode to 71 yards.

Seems like the trio put in work yesterday.

Lee was in that backfield often, just couldn't wrap up Lynch (few can), but he'd often slow him down enough or made him change direction so the rest of the D could stop him
