In super Mario rpg on the snes I had a friend come over since he beat the game. I was stuck on a level that required you to know some classic melody while also know which buttons to press to play it. As a kid I'm like how in the heck was I supposed to know any of this. One of the few struggles in games that still bothers me whenever I think of it.

There was one like that in Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation, if memory serves correct you had to plug your controller into port #2 to defeat someone.

I watched a cool History of Gaming documentary a couple months back. It went into how, before the internet, you had to go out and buy the gaming magazines or call the Nintendo Power Hotline to get tips and tricks on how to advance through a game. You actually had to work for it. Now you just click open YouTube and chose from the thousands of videos. Crazy how it's all changed, and really, so quickly.

I wish I could remember what that show was called or where I even watched it. All these tv shows and TV apps start to all blend together on me. lol

Edit: OK! I think, and feel pretty confident, it was High Score on Netflix. It was a good watch.
When Pokemon Yellow was announced with no definitive release date I would call them up probably twice a week asking if the a date was announced. It got to a point where they implemented a system telling you first whether or not there was a date for the game before they gave you all of the phone options.

I probably have around 150 issues of PC Gamer and Computer Gaming Monthly dating from around 1999 --2015ish. Stopped buying because the more the price went up the less content they seemed to have.

Uh oh, Game Pro in this junt ? Loved that mag and had a subsc, too...loved the cheat code editions..think it was Mortal Kombat 2 they did like a whole edition for that game alone with all the moves n fatalities which weren't just pasted in the instruction manual like they are now.

You had to test out the same moves/sometimes with slightly diff timeing on different players and kind of find what they can do, where now that;s on the intro scene for MK.

Game is on my wish list, hopefully its pretty good.
Me too, first bigger hit this year (hoping like you said). RE is all about pacing, some like it slower like the earlier games and me I'm more ADD horror so like the guns/weapons being involved a lot/more ammo. Either way, get something new to play, and the Ninja Gaiden/Mass Effect triology coming out soon will be nice to get some nostalgia and hand cramps (Gaiden lol).

I do have Returnal coming at the end of the month (half forgot) and hoping for good things bc the game does look sharp.

Anybody dived deep into Outriders? I downloaded it and played it for only prob 15 minutes, only because I had to be somewhere. Seems decent so far. It gave me pretty heavy Gears of War vibes.
I think I'll pick it up down the line. I liked it tbh, played about an hour of the trial but it kept dropping me from the server. Agree on the Gears vibe with the cover tactic style, but also the humor. Maybe down the line type thing, you guys got it on game pass right?

I threw away 4 large boxes of gaming magazines a few years ago after failing to find a library interested in them.

I had years of PC Gamer magazines as well :D

I wish I still had mine. I also just remembered I had a subscription to E.G.M. Electronic Gaming Monthly. That was published by the same group as P.C. Gamer I think.
