The Video Game Thread

Started played Amazons MMORPG New World, ton of improvements and an expansion since release. Fairly impressive but so much to learn and do.

How is it? I have been considering getting back into an MMO. But I don’t own a PC. I used to love WoW back in the day. And I was a big Ultima Online player when I was a teenager/young adult.

So I was intrigued at the idea of getting an MMO to play on console as I don’t have a PC anymore.

I read a new expansion and improvement came out for this game. Is it worth it to try?

Only about 30 hours play time, but so far I like it. I would give it a solid 7 out of 10. Wouldn't put it with the upper echelon of MMO games though. I like the exploration, crafting and Gathering. You have four sets of weapons to choose from, one handed, two-handed, ranged, and magical. Each one has four different weapons you can choose within each category aside from ranged which only has three, bow musket and blunderbuss. You have skills, and perks you can open up in each weapons skill tree. Also you can put points into strength, Constitution, dexterity, Etc. Can't comment on any dungeons or player versus player because I haven't experienced that yet. The game originally was going to be much more focused on player versus player and Guild versus Guild but for some reason Amazon scrapped that and went in this direction. There are several good YouTube channels with knowledgeable experienced players I would watch as well before purchasing

Interesting. I will watch some more videos online.

It’s interesting you mentioned crafting and gathering because that’s one of the things I like about open world games the most is the gathering of resources to use.

Well, I was gonna fire up some BF6 earlier, but saw the Doom: The Dark Ages tile sitting there and figured it was the perfect time to jump back in....especially with Halloween around the corner. I ended up getting completely sucked in all morning. Just wrapped up this insane section where you’re tearing it up while riding a dragon. It really is a great arcade-style shooter. Think I’m gonna commit to finishing it now.

Yeah it does have an extensive Gathering and crafting system including, fishing logging mining skinning harvesting plants, smelting stone cutting tanning weaving and woodworking

I probably mentioned somewhere early in the thread that I am not a big gamer at all. Super Nintendo was my last gaming device.

On PC I have played Diablo games over the years although I have not got IV yet...but got a killer character on III lol.

Over the years, back to when I had the commodore 64, I have played Sid Meirers Pirates. Got the updated version for the PC probably ten years or so ago. Kind of rare anymore, but when the internet goes down. I will sometimes break out the Pirates game and before I know it Hours have passed. Still find it fun to play.

Last Christmas I bought one of those gaming sticks with loads of old nintendo, playstation, sega and other older games. Mostly play some nintendo games but have not in some time. That is another one I can play if the net goes down.

SORRY FOR THE RAMBLING
The only reason I even posted in this thread is that I seen a video of a odd game. I really do not know about steam but It was where you can download and play the game but it is a demo version.

It is a weird game and I had trouble with the controls but that is probably just my lack of gaming exp.

It is called Umigari by Chilla games?

I seen they basically killed it today. Sad because it looked cool and had great potential.
Game is not listed for sale on Steam as of this afternoon. @HungryLion hope you didn't purchase this. They are saying they hope to run the servers through 2026 but i doubt it. The expansion that came out a couple years ago they made free about 2 weeks ago, now we know why. And the new season and free content zone was just released on October 16th. Shocking and sad.

The best thing they could do for that game woud be to sell the rights to another existing MMO company.

My guess is that their "run through 2026" statement was a subtle "it's for sale" message to the industry because since it's buy to play, they could easily shut it down at any time.

Microsoft or ncsoft perhaps? Would be interesting, steam player numbers were around 40,000 a week to 10 days ago. After the announcement server pops have dropped dramatically

Wow. Good thing I waited. Lol

Did Prime get rid of its free monthly games for PC? Haven't tried it in a while and went there but only saw their new streaming service. Do they give you any perks like that now?

Beat Doom: The Dark Ages last night. I really enjoyed it. The mix of linear and open-world levels was great, and there were plenty of little secrets and items to collect along the way. The gameplay had some solid action, with lots of special abilities and weapons to upgrade. It does get a tad repetitive in terms of enemies, but you can choose different ways of defeating them, which keeps things a little interesting.

If you’re into this style of genre, I’d absolutely recommend it, especially if you have GamePass.
