I can run emulators if I just want to run games on older consoles, especially the games I bought and enjoyed on those systems. They have a Nintendo and Super Nintendo official emulator “app” on there you can download for free (but you have to sign up for their yearly $20 subscription), and those apps come preloaded with some classic games. While they do have some of the basic classics, the rest of the games feel pretty random, and there aren’t nearly as many titles as I think there should be....or as many as they could realistically add.
They’ve also added apps for N64, Genesis, Game Boy, and I believe even GameCube, but of course those require the more expensive tier.
Now, there might be a way to sideload classic Nintendo games onto the Switch, but I haven’t gone down that rabbit hole to see if that’s actually possible.
Now if they ever come up with a way to truly upscale those old games for modern resolutions, that would be something worth paying for a second or third time.
Beyond that though, I'm not risking it with mods or sideloading.
I was asking more though about Nintendo Switch games that still run well with a first-gen OLED Switch.
